DEPLOYABLE

FORENSIC C-IEDLABORATORIES

MODULAR FORENSIC C-IED LABORATORY

OUR LABORATORIES ARE AVAILABLE IN ANUMBER OF DIFFERENT CONFIGURATIONSDEPENDING ON THE CUSTOMER’S PRECISEREqUIREMENTS.

IEDs are the major source o casualties oncurrent operations and are likely to remain

the weapon o choice or adversaries inasymmetric warare. Preventing IED attacks isa major priority or Armed and Security Forces, additionally being able to protect population, frst responders and military orces againstIED attacks is essential.

One o the key elements to deeat the IEDsystem (IED supply chain) is the intelligenceand evidence gathered at the scene o aterrorist attack.

Deployable Forensic C-IED Laboratories areintended to analyze the intelligence and

evidence gathered at the scene o an IEDevent uickly, but in a judicially clean mannerto both give a commander uick actionableintelligence and support subseuentexploitation.

Introduction

MOBILE FORENSIC C-IED LABORATORY

Deployable confgurationsDepending on the concept o use established

by the users two deployable confgurationsare available.

• Modular confguration. This solution isbased on a semi-permanent inrastructureapproach. The modular confguration iscomposed by eight felded ISO 20 eetcontainers linked to each other through tunneltents. This confguration has been devised toprovide exibility and can be adjusted to meetprecise reuirements.

• Mobile confguration. This confgurationis based on a containerized solution. The

housing is composed o a ruggedized ISO20 eet Shelter ready to be ftted onto anystandard logistic mobile platorm. This solutionis suitable or applications demanding animmediate on site response across a wide area.

ApplicationsED exploitation is the investigation o IED

incidents to establish; the technical andtactical inormation rom the attack andidentiy the IED supply chain. All exploitationrelated activities are designed to contributeto the other key operational activities o theC-IED eort o predicting the activity o theIED network, preventing urther IED incidents, detecting IEDs when they are emplaced, beingable to eectively and saely neutralize themand mitigating the eects o those IED.

These solutions are devised to be operatedin both civil and military environments. Sometypical users or such systems are:

• C-IED/ EOD Military special units

• C-IED Security orces (Bomb suads)

CONCEPT OF USE &CAPABILITIES

IED exploitation is the investigation o IED

incidents to establish; the technical andtactical inormation rom the attack andidentiy the IED supply chain. IED exploitationis achieved through a number o activitieswhich try to technically, tactically andorensically characterize the componentsinvolved and recover trace material o involvedwith the construction o IEDs. DeployableCIED exploitation laboratories providethe commander at a local level with uick

System Saety approved by NATO

Level 2 Analytical Lab Capabilities

• Triage Devices, Materials, Artiacts andTraces (DMAT) on receipt where they canbe initially inspected (CBRNe, X-ray) andprioritized.

• Detailed visual examination and high ualityimage capture and processing.

• Latent fngerprint recovery and matching.

• Recovery o biometric material.

• Chemical/ Explosive analysis (extract tracechemical/ explosive samples).

• Media Data Recovery and Electroniccomponents assessment.

• Characterization o weapon systems andexplosive charges.

• Tool-mark identifcation.

IT Solutions

• Lab Inormation Management System (LIMS):Inter-comparison across incidents, Custodianchain guaranteed, no data missing, holisticDMAT tracking, automated reporting.

• Full IT network connectivity (Int. LAN/ Ext.Secure WANs).

• Fire fghting system.

• Platorm security system.

Concept of use

General Common Capabilities

System Throughput

Capable o supporting an operational tempoo up to:

• 2 cases a day (mobile confguration).

• 5 cases a day (modular confguration).Capable to host up to :

• 10 people working simultaneously (modularconfguration).

• 3 people working simultaneously (mobileconfguration).

Environmental Perormance

• Extreme climate proo (A1 to C1).

• CBRN Protected (COLPRO).

• Fire resistant (EI60).

• EMI/ RFI compliant.

actionable intelligence concerning the IED

incident which can be uickly ollowed up toallow a local commander to get inside theiradversaries attack cycle. The deployableexploitation process is intrusive but non-destructive and supports ollow-on deeperexploitation. Exploitation labs can also beused to investigate other crimes and will allowlocal commanders to act uickly and seize theinitiative rom their adversaries.

Initial triage is executed to ensure saety o

personnel and acilities (Small CBR & Explosivesamples could be handled).Ater investigation a deployable exploitationreport is released to inorm o any new enemyTTPs and identiy links to other incidents.
