MCA is the study of the theoretical foundations of information and computation and of practical techniques for their implementation and application in computer systems. Computer Engineers invent algorithmic processes that create, describe, and transform information and formulate suitable abstractions to model complex systems.MCA has many sub-fields; some, such as computational complexity theory, study the properties of computational problems, while others, such as computer graphics, emphasize the computation of specific results. Still others focus on the challenges in implementing computations. For example, programming language theory studies approaches to describe computations, while computer programming applies specific programming languages to solve specific computational problems, and human-computer interaction focuses on the challenges in making computers and computations useful, usable, and universally accessible to humans. MCA Departmental Achievements

Mrs. A. Thomas was given special recognition award for

successful implementation of softwares at GHRCE. Ms.

Vaidehi Chikhalikar and Mr. Nilesh Gupta, members of

software team received R&D incentives for their

contribution in software development. Mr. Pravin

Ghatode received R&D incentives for filing patent on

project “Intangible Human Interface”. The student

members were Mr. Nikhil Wandhare and Mr. Suchintra

Singh.The Department of MCA congratulates the

faculty members and students for their achievements.

Teachers’ Day Celebration:

The department of MCA celebrated teacher’s day with great

enthusiasm. The students arranged a surprise party for the

faculties . They greeted the faculty members with bouquets

and greeting cards. The teachers lighted the lamp which was

followed by the saraswati vandana which symbolizes the

strength of goddess saraswati .

Students arranged an interactive session for the faculty by

playing various games such as glass and ball, and many

more.

Faculties enjoyed the party and thanked the students for it.

“Ganapati Sthapna” in MCA and MBA Dept ,

GHRCE

Traditionally following the ceremony of Ganapti ji for 3rd

consecutive year, this year also the students of MCA and

MBA department got together on this auspicious ceremony.

The sthapana was held for one and a half days. On these

days, the students celebrated and enjoyed the Ganesha

chaturthi with great zeal. May the blessings of Lord Ganesha

be bestowed upon all of us.

On the last day, it was the time to bid farewell to Lord

Ganesha and was immersed with the love from their devotees

at Futala lake.

Guest Lecture on “Big Data and No SQL” organized by MCA Dept., of GHRCE, Nagpur

The department of MCA, GHRCE, Nagpur organized

Guest Lecture on “Big data and No SQL” on 16-09-

2013 in G-1 for MCA-II students. The lecture was

delivered by Mr. Prashant Borkar, Professor, CSE

Dept., GHRCE, Nagpur. The Expert discussed Big

data & its characteristics he also explained how Big

Data is used for making Graphical representation. He

also discussed Real Time vs Batch time processing.

The program was co-ordinated by Mr.A.U Gahankari

of MCA Dept.

Guest Lecture on “Hacker Vs Cracker” organized by MCA Dept., of GHRCE, Nagpur.

The department of MCA, GHRCE,Nagpur organized Guest

Lecture on “Hacker vs Cracker” on 20-09-2013 in G-21 for

MCA-I and MCA-III year students. The lecture was

delivered by Mr.Sachin Palewar ,MD, Palewar Techno

Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Nagpur. He mainly focused on the

importance of participation of MCA students in national

level project competitions organized by various MNC

companies . He also guided the students , how to start to

develop a software projects , what are the various stages of

development phase etc. The program was co-ordinated by

Mr. Gopal Sakarkar, MCA-I year class Incharge and

faculty members of MCA Dept.

CSR activity Conducted By MCA IInd Year

GHRCE Students

The Corporate Social Responsibility cell of MCA organized

a visit to Zilla Parishad Ucha Mahavidhalaya’, Jamtha,

Nagpur. It is a Marathi Medium School. The students of

MCA had taken up the activity of conducting lectures on

various topics like Maths, Computers, and Communication

Skills etc. for students of 5th 6

th and 7

th standard. The

Students also encourage the school students by showing

them the motivational movie. 85 school students were

present for the program. Prof. P. Ghatode and Prof. N.

Purohit along with 60 MCA IInd year students conducted

this program on 21/9/2013. The MCA students conducted

all the sessions and also distributed posters, snacks and

chocolates. The students from Zilla Parishad Ucha

Mahavidhalaya’,

Jamtha participated enthusiastically in all the activities

in the presence of their class teacher and school

headmaster. The students of MCA had a wonderful

experience for which they thanked the Director, Dr.

P.R. Bajaj for her encouragement to conduct such

programs during their course of study.

MCA III Semester Project Evaluation by

Industrial Experts at GHRCE, Nagpur

The MCA Dept., of GHRCE, Nagpur conducted the project

evaluation for the Second Year MCA Students on 28/09/2013.

Industrial experts were invited for the evaluation. The Experts

were Mr. Rakesh Thakre, Senior Software Associate, Envis

Solution Pvt. Ltd., Nagpur, Mr. Sughosh Deshpande, Senior

Software Associate, Q M Computech Pvt. Ltd., Nagpur. The

experts evaluated the student’s projects and suggested

improvements in their work. Dr. U.S. Wankhede , Dean P.G.

Studies was also present during the evaluation. The Program

was co-ordinated by Ms. Neha Purohit, Industrial Evaluation

Incharge, Mr. Gopal Sakarkar, Project Incharge and the faculty

members under the guidance of Prof. A. Thomas HOD of MCA Department.

Workshop on Microsoft Windows Azure by Mr. Ashishh Khadse

A workshop on Windows Azure was organized by Department of MCA in association with Microsoft. The workshop was

conducted by Microsoft Student Lead, Mr. Ashishh Khadse. It was an interactive session. Mr. Khadse started the session

by introducing the students to the concept of cloud computing and Windows Azure. He also demonstrated on how to create

a website using Windows Azure. Around 150 students from MCA and BE were present for the workshop. The workshop

was organized and coordinated by all faculties of MCA Department.

Guest Lecture on “Basics Concepts of Digital Electronics” organized by MCA Dept., of

GHRCE, Nagpur

Prof. M. Pathan , Electronics Department, GHRCE, Nagpur had delivered a guest lecture on “Basic Concepts of Digital

Electronics” at department of MCA on dated 5th Oct . 2013. He briefly discussed the concepts of flip flops, K-map

working and number system etc. The lecture helped the students to gain the basic idea about actual working of digital

devices and its implementation. The guest lecture was held under the guidance of Prof. Gopal Sakarkar, faculty MCA

Department and Prof. A. Thomas, HOD, Department of MCA, GHRCE , Nagpur.
