The Ministry of Women & Child Development has invitednominations for the Nari Shakti Puraskars 2017. Governmentof India confers the "Highest Civilian Honor for Women" onInternational Women's Day, sth March, every year bypresenting "Nari Shakti Puraskars". The objective of the awardis to acknowledge and recognize the services of individuals andinstitutions who have made a lasting contribution to women'sempowerment. The awards are also an effort to recognize rolemodels who act as torch bearers for the younger generation andcatalysts of change in the lives of women and society at large.Through Nari Shakti Puraskar, Government of India reaffirmsits commitment towards strengthening women's position in thesociety.

The Ministry of Women and Child Development is seekingnominations from individuals and institutions who havedisplayed outstanding work preferably in exceptionalcircumstances towards economic and social empowerment ofwomen, effective implementation of women relatedlegislations, gender mainstreaming, etc. In this regard, anadvertisement has been published on 02nd September 2017 inleading newspapers including vernacular languages.

Last date of receipt of nominations is October 15th, 2017. Theawards will be presented on 8th March 2018, the InternationalWomen's Day.
