SECTION I. INTRODUCTION
1. Scope
a. General. This manual lists the quantities of repair parts for third and fourth echelon field maintenance and is a basis for requisitioning authorized parts. It is also a guide for fifth echelon in establishing initial levels of spare parts.
b. Columns. ( 1) Federal stock number. The stock
number column lists the 11 digit Federal stock number.
(2) Repair parts source, maintenance, and recoverability code. Column C indicates the lowest maintenance echelon authorized to install the part. Symbols used indicate the following:
0 - Organizational maintenance (1st and 2d echelon).
F - Field maintenance (3d echelon).
(3) Designation by model. Each subdivision of this column is used for a specific model or for groups of equipment as noted in column 4. A dagger indicates that the part is used in that model.
(4) Description (Col. 4). Nomenclature or the standard item name and brief identifying data for each item is listed in this column. When requisitioning, enter the nomenclature and description.
(5) Unit of issue (Col. 5). The unit of issue is the supply medium by which the individual item is counted for procurement, storage, requisitioning, allowances, and issue purposes.
(6) Expendabil?:ty (Col. 6). Expendable items are indicated by the letter X ; nonexpendable items are indicated by NX.
(7) Quantity incorporated in unit (Col. 7) · This column lists the quantity of each particular part found in a given assembly, component, or equipment.
(8) Field (third echelon) (Col. 8) . The quantities indicated in these columns are repair parts authorized for initial s t o c k a g e for use in third echelon maintenance and supply support to second echelon. The quantities ~re based on 100 equipments to be mamtained for a 15-day period.
(9) Field (fourth echelon) (Col. 9). The quantities indicated in this column are r e p a i r parts authorized for initial stockage for use in fourth echelon maintenance. The quantities are based on 100 equipments to be maintained for a 15-day period.
(10) Depot (fifth echelon) (Col. tO). The quantities indicated in this column are repair parts authorized for d e P o t maintenance and for initial stockage for maintenance, and supply support to lower echelons. The entries are ba~ed on the quantity required for rebuild of 100 equipments.
(11) Illustration. The Figure No. column is not used. The Item No. coJurnn lists the reference designations that appear on parts in the equipment. These ~ame de~ignations also appear on anY illustrations of the equipment.
2. Additional Repair Parts
Additional items not expected to fail during the first year, but which may be required to perform authorized field maintenance in subsequent years are identified by an asterisk an? are to be requisitioned as required for immediate use only. Supplemental repair parts which

4 . Allowance Factors
'fhe allowance factors are based on 100 a:prnents. In order to determine the number
ejui arts authorized for initial stcickage for the 0 p "fie number of equipments supported, the ;~~~~jng f_ormula will be used and carried out

Putation will be rounded to whole numbers corn
follows: as (i) When the total number of parts au-
thorized is less than 0.50, the quantity authorized shall be zero.
(2) When the total number of parts au-

thorized is between 0.50 and 1.0, the quantity authorized will be one.
(3) For all values above one, fractional values below 0.5 will revert to lower whole number and fractional value 0.5 and above will revert to next higher whole number.
c. The quantities determined in accordance with the above computation represent the initial stockage for a 15-day period.
