It is essential to reflect on your experience as students, your successes and your challenges. You may think of every class you took, every activity you engaged in, every moment you shared with classmates and professors as a piece of an intriguing puzzle, as a ceramic tile shaping a larger mosaic and disclosing a complete picture. In other words, you may think of your time at Montclair State University as the sum of many and diverse learning experiences, experiences that are not individual but collective. Now it is time to look ahead and bring this knowledge into the world. Each of you has the possibility and the responsibility to make a contribution and produce change, not necessarily in a big, dramatic way but in your everyday plans and accomplishments. The future is waiting for you in many exciting incarnations: as a job opportunity, as continuing graduate education, as community service. Meet Some of Our Graduates

Camila Burbano (Spanish) graduated in January with a concentration in Translation. She is currently working as a substitute Spanish teacher in an elementary school. Her future plans are to enroll in the alternate route program

to obtain her teaching certificate.

Arthur Amidano (Spanish) is graduating with a major in Spanish. His future plans include becoming a Spanish interpreter and translator.

Ana Cristina Bojorque (Spanish) is completing the BA portion of her BA/MAT degree and certification in Spanish, Teacher of Students with Disabilities, and Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL). She starts her Graduate year as Vice President of an honor society for educators, Kappa Delta Pi. Her future plans include teaching in an urban district and making positive change for every generation she teaches.

Giulia Bertoli (Italian) graduated in January with a major in Italian and a minor in Linguistics. She is currently freelance translating and

earning a certificate in localization. Her future plans are to subtitle for private companies including Netflix.

Erlinda Capollari (Spanish) completed her MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching) after student teaching in Belleville. This summer she hopes to be part of the summer camp team for Belleville elementary schools, and in the future she would like to teach Spanish to college level students.

Lilia Barroso (Spanish) graduated in January with a Spanish major. She is currently working as a substitute teacher in a private school. In the next school year she is going to work as a teacher in an early child education center located in Paterson, New Jersey. Her future plans include getting her Master’s degree in Education.

Jenna Emiliani (Spanish) completed her MAT with teacher certification. She student taught at Belleville High School and will start her first year teaching at Seton Hall Preparatory School in the fall. Her summer

plans include working at The Learning Experience in Roseland and traveling to Ecuador to visit Quito, Cuenca and the Galapagos Islands while practicing Spanish and learning about Ecuadorian culture. Marissa Chirico

(Spanish) is graduating with teacher certification in Spanish and ESL and a minor in French. She student taught at Kearny High School and will teach at Jefferson Township High School in September. In the future she hopes to grow as an educator and make a greater impact on education as a whole, either through educational leadership or teaching at the university level.

Gabriella Carputo (Italian) graduated in January with a major in Italian and a minor in Food Science. She is currently a banquet manager at La Reggia Restaurant & Banquets in Secaucus. Her future plans are to pursue a Master’s degree in International Business and start a non-profit organization that fights for the rights of foster children.

Meet Some of Our Graduates

Joseph Díaz (Spanish) graduated in January with a Master's degree in Spanish. He is currently working as a Spanish teacher at Boonton High School. His future plans include continuing his education in the Castilian language by pursuing a Ph.D. in the field of Bilingualism and Second Language Acquisition.

Leslie López (Spanish) is completing her Spanish major with a concentration in Translation and a minor in International Business. She hopes to continue her studies at Montclair State in the graduate program for Translation and Interpretation in Spanish

with the goal of becoming a court interpreter in New York and New Jersey.

Hilda Enriquez (Spanish) is graduating from the literature track of the Spanish major. She hopes to use her skills in her current job as an early childhood educator in order to become a more well-rounded assistant teacher. Her future plans include obtaining certification to teach Spanish. Her passion is teaching children and she wants to make a difference in their lives.

María Montero (Spanish) combined her studies in Spanish with a Linguistics Major. She is currently working with children and in the future hopes to keep working with children and a Spanish or ESL teache

Vanessa Martínez (Spanish) is graduating with teacher certification in Spanish after student teaching at Parsippany High School. In the future she plans to earn a Master’s in Spanish, add ESL certification, and study another language. She hopes to volunteer in other countries as a teacher, specifically returning to her family's native Colombia to teach English during the summers. "Todo el mundo sonríe en el mismo idioma."

Julian Morales (Spanish) graduated in January with a major in Spanish and minor in Asian Studies. He is currently working as a substitute teacher but will be pursuing an MFA in Performing Arts at the Savannah College of Art and Design. He also looks forward to marrying Jazmine, the love of his life, writing award-winning plays and musicals, and performing as a dancer and actor.

Breanna Marin (Spanish) graduated in January with an MAT and teaching certification in Spanish after student teaching in Newark at Ann Street Elementary School. She is currently filling in as a sixth grade Spanish teacher at

Orange Avenue School in Cranford. In the future she hopes to find a full time Spanish teaching position at a middle school or elementary school nearby.

Cindy Molina (Spanish) completed her MA and is currently teaching Spanish at County College of Morris. Next year she will be starting a Ph.D. program for School Psychology at Fordham in Lincoln Center. She plans to conduct research related

to assessments, intersection of culture and response to intervention, as well as publish books, become a psychology professor, and open her practice in New York City.

Meet Some of Our Graduates

Reyther Ortega (Spanish) graduated in January with a Master's degree in Spanish. She is currently working as a part time lecturer at Rutgers-Newark where she teaches two Elementary Spanish courses as well as Introduction to Latin

American Literature. She is looking for a full-time position at a community college or an independent school and is considering the possibility of pursuing a doctorate.

Bianca Ortega (Spanish) is graduating from the literature track of the Spanish major. She graduated in 2014 with an English degree. Her current work as a paraprofessional at Belleville High School has inspired her to pursue a career in teaching. Her future plans are to become a Spanish teacher or work in a bilingual field.

Linda Salazar (Spanish) is graduating with majors in Spanish and in Linguistics. Her future plans include pursuing a graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Through the MSU Bonner Leaders program, Linda did 300 hours of community service for three consecutive years, volunteer work she plans to continue. She is thankful to all her professors for helping her reach her goals.

Meet Some of Our Graduates

Michael Vicchio (Italian) graduated in January with teacher certification in Italian. He student taught at Clifton High School and is currently looking for a job as a high school Italian teacher and lacrosse coach. He hopes to push his students to their full potential while promoting the Italian language and culture.

Diana Santos (Spanish) graduated in January with an MAT and certification in Spanish. She currently teaches at Pioneer Academy (Grades 3-7) in Wayne. In the future she hopes to obtain her Bilingual and ESL NJ

Teaching Certificates to serve teachers that work with immigrant children, applying her own teaching experiences and knowledge of pedagogy in all aspects of language teaching and acquisition.

Begonia Rodriguez Yasin (Spanish) completed her MA. Native in German, Spanish and English, she is currently employed at the Department of Homeland Security as a Language Specialist and is certified as a simultaneous interpreter

at the Federal Immigration Courts. Her future plan is to design and teach a government and immigration translation/interpretation course and work as an interpreter for the Department of Justice.

Raquel Spooner (Spanish) is graduating with a major in Spanish and a minor in Psychology. She has enjoyed getting to meet so many amazing and unforgettable people at Montclair and in the future she hopes to see more of

the world, learn more Spanish, and teach.

María Vicente (Spanish) graduated in January with a Spanish major and Psychology minor. She is currently a substitute teacher for the Kearny Board of Education. Her future plans are to attend the MAT

program at NJCU this fall and pursue a Master’s degree in Education and certification in both TESL and middle school Mathematics.

Lorena Wilde-Caneda (Spanish) graduated in January with a Spanish major. She is currently working as a substitute teacher in Rutherford, teaching kindergarten through high school. Having completed her own K-12 studies in Chile, she finds the hands-on school experience here to be enriching. Her future plans are to pursue a Master’s degree in Education and share with students her knowledge of the Spanish language.

Meet Some of Our Graduates

Angello Villarreal (Spanish) graduated in January with a B.A. in Spanish. He is planning to attend Monmouth University in the fall to pursue a Master’s degree in Education while continuing to work full time as a manager at

Raymour & Flanigan. His future plans are to teach Spanish in a public school and/or perhaps at the college level.
