A place to spend leisure time in a utilized way
It encourages women as indoor sports gives them more opportunity to prove the talents without
exposure to the sun
Offer opportunities to ensure that physical activity and fitness become part of regular healthy
behavioural patterns. Encouraging any type or amount of physical activity in leisure time can provide
important health benefits, compared to a sedentary lifestyle. Activities that promote strength and
flexibility are important because they may protect against disability, enhance functional independence,
and encourage regular physical activity participation. These benefits are particularly importanta good
quality of life means being functionally independent and being able to perform the activities of daily
living.
Young people are at particular risk for becoming sedentary as they grow older. Therefore, encouraging
moderate and vigorous physical activity among adults is important. Because they spend most of their
time in studies, the type and amount of physical activity encouraged in colleges are important
components of a fitness program and a healthy lifestyle.
Physical Benefits
Physical education is unique to the curriculum as the only program that provides students with
opportunities to learn motor skills develop fitness and/or gain understanding about physical activity.
Physical benefits gained from physical activity include: disease prevention, safety and injury avoidance,
decreased morbidity and premature mortality, and increased mental health. The physical education
program is the place where students enjoy and learn all about the benefits gained from being physically
active as well as the skills and knowledge to incorporate safe, satisfying physical activity into their lives.
The students become increasingly more independent as their daily lives become more complex and
diversified. College begins to make decisions and choices in taking increased responsibility for
themselves. Quality physical education programs provide students conceptual and practical
understanding of
1) Health-related physical fitness, and
2) How to maintain a health-related level of physical fitness.
Physical education plays a vital part in helping students maintain and refine the skills and knowledge
needed to select physical activities to use throughout their lives
A Game Plan for Success
No athlete or athletic team has achieved their goal of victory by working alone. Every successful effort
requires a game plan and teamwork. The same applies to the lives of young people. If they are to win in
life, we must all work together for them and with them. Our investment and involvement will make the
difference in their success!
The department of Physical Education offers many fitness programs and coaching for the students and
staff which will add an additional degree to them in future.
