6

Effect of Chromium Supplementation in Broilers Experimental finding revealed that chromium supplementation in the form of chromium picolinate and chromium chloride @ 40 & 80 mg/kg body weight respectively improved FCR & showed higher body weight in the chromium supplemented groups. Serum glucose & cholesterol was decreased significantly in the groups receiving chromium picolinate and chromium chloride. The bird receiving higher doses more than 120 mg/kg chromium chloride revealed granular degenerative changes in hepatocytes and tubular epithelium of kidney.

Dr. Sachin S. Raut

7

Effect of Plumbago zeylanica during experimental lead toxicity in rats Lead induced toxicity (750 ppm) resulted in significant decrease in Hb, TEC, PCV & increased in TLC, AST, ALT, ALP, cholesterol & creatinine. Degenerative changes were observed in liver, kidney, lungs, brain, testes, uterus & ovaries. Lead acetate was found to be genotoxic at the above dose. Treatment with Plumbago zeylanica resulted in restoration of the above parameters.

histopathological observation.

Micro and nano-zinc particulate subacute toxicity in male wistar rats. Study was conducted with the aim to compare nanoparticle and micro particle toxicity of zinc in male Wistar rats. The present study revealed mild alterations in haemato-biochemical parameters and histopathological observations except in testes. Zinc in either form at 10 mg/kg body weight causes anemia. Nano-zinc and micro zinc at higher levels are toxic to brain and testes respectively. Therefore concluded that the target organ for nano-zinc intoxication is liver while testes is target organ for micro-zinc.

Baijnath S Prajapati

Sub-acute toxicopathology of monosodium glutamate in female wistar rats. Monosodium glutamate at 2 mg/g, 3mg/g and 4 mg/g of daily oral dose for 28 days resulted in macrocytic hypochromic anemia and lymphocytosis in rats. Increased values of Serum glucose, cholesterol, triglyceride, AST and creatinine were also observed. The athreromatous lesion along with thrombosis was observed in vasculature of heart and lungs.

Vandana R Hedau

Pathogenecity and molecular characterization of Newcastle disease virus encountered in and around Nagpur Total of 15 NDV outbreaks were studied. The HI titres were observed lower in ND affected birds. The nucleotide sequence of F0 spaning region indicated that isolate are grouped with lentogenic and mesogenic strains and indicate possibility of new emerging pathogenic strains

Megha P. Kaore

Immunohistochemical characterisation of mammary gland tumors in dogs Study revealed that 9-12 years of age is most susceptible age. Correlation of cytological and histological diagnosis found to be 70%. Immunohistochemical staining ER and PR can be used as better indicator for deciding prognosis of mammary gland as found to be decreased expression receptors with progression of malignancy.

Chicken Infectious Anemia was encountered in and around Nagpur as confirm by VP1 gene sequence. Incidence of CIA is more in Leghorn cockerels, the lower hematocreat values of indicated anemia accompanied with heterophil and lymphopenia. Atrophy of the thymus, lymphoid organs and bone marrow can be considered as pathognomic lesion. Strategic vaccination policies should be implemented to control the Chicken Infectious Anemia

Assessment of cytokine expression in Listeria monocytogenes challenged mice. L. monocytogenes from human induce more severe lesions as compared to isolate from animal, human isolate was found to be more virulent. Serum Cytokine TNF-α and IL-6 production by human isolate was more than animal isolate and was comparable to standard EGDe strain.

Pankaj Kulurkar

Pathology of Salmonella enteria challenge infection in broilers and it’s amelioration by Bacillus subtilis supplementation A total of 11/19 (57.89%) isolates were identified as Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Typhimurium by PCR technique from the field outbreaks in Nagpur region. Experimental broilers supplemented with Bacillus subtilis and challenged by S. enterica subsp. enterica serovar Enteritidis showed reduction in colonization of Salmonella, improved growth performance and less severe histopathological lesions in liver, kidney, intestine and lymphoid organs as compared to the challenged broiler which was not supplemented with Bacillus subtilis indicating Bacillus subtilis can be use as probiotic in broilers.

Sachin Raut

Effect of Bacillus subtilis as probiotic on pathology of Clostridium perfringens in broiler Five samples of intestinal content from different breeds of poultry farm in and around Nagpur region found positive for presence of bacteria Clostridium perfringens causing necrotic enteritis. Dietary supplementation of probiotic Bacillus subtilis showed improved the growth performance, reduction in intestinal bacterial count and less severe gross and microscopic changes against C. perfringens induced necrotic enteritis in broiler by reducing clostridial gut colonization indicating probiotic role of Bacillus subtilis.
