MASTER OF SCIENCE IN BUSINESS

Lehman College has established a graduate program leading to the degree of Master of Science in Business with a specialization in finance, marketing, human re-source management, or international business. A new specialization in E-Business is projected for Fall 2011. The objective of this curriculum is to satisfy the growing need in today’s business environment for professionals who have developed the necessary expertise, insight, and vision in tackling the technical, interpersonal, and conceptual problems specific to their chosen functional field. The program also constitutes a threshold into high-er academic or professional pursuits, such as earning a doctorate in business or law. Lehman College is one of only two colleges within CUNY authorized to confer this degree.

Applicants to the MSB program must have earned their bachelor’s degree from an accredited undergraduate institution in the U.S. or abroad with a minimum grade point average of 2.7 (B-) or equivalent. A minimum GPA of B (3.0) is necessary to maintain enrollment in the MSB program. Admissions are made for the Fall semester only.

For full admission, candidates must have completed the following undergraduate prerequisites:

• 6 credits in accounting;• 6 credits in economics;

• 6 credits in quantitative methods in undergraduate mathematics, calculus, statistics, management sci-ence, econometrics, or operations research.

Students admitted to the MSB program conditionally for not having completed these undergraduate prerequisites must remedy their deficiencies in their first semester, unless this would require a sequence of two semesters. Students who do not comply with this condition will be removed from the program.

Applicants must submit a statement of career objectives and two letters of recommendation. They must also ob-tain an acceptable score on the GMAT. This requirement is waived for applicants who have previously earned a master’s degree from an accredited institution in the U.S.A. or who hold a professional U.S. license, such as a CPA or Series 7.

International Students International students must attain a minimum score of 500 on the TOEFL and comply with the applicable financial and visa requirements. TOEFL requirement is exempted for those international students whose baccalaureate degree was granted by a university where English was the exclusive language of instruction. But these students must still provide a minimum GMAT score of 450.

Curriculum The 30-credit MSB curriculum includes 12 credits in a common professional core, 12 credits in the chosen field of specialization, and 6 credits in two capstone seminars. To reiterate, any missing undergraduate prerequisites must be made up in the first year, preferably in the first semester.
