Engineering College arranged One Day (Three sessions)

Skill Development Program on Electrical Transient

Analyzer Program (ETAP) dated 9th February * 2019.

Mr. N.D.JOSHI working as Asst. Professor in Electrical

Engineering Department of OM Engineering College

rendered his expertise to all workshop participants on

ETAP. Approximately 40 students from 4th Semester

degree side were attending the workshop.

Seminar was started at 10:00 am with inauguration

in which introductory speech given by Prof. N.D.Joshi

who has inspire the students for doing the skill

development activities those can be useful in future

industrial requirement..,

After this session, the all the students were sent

to the respective skill development workshop places &

Electrical Degree students’ session was hand over to Prof.

N.D.Joshi (Electrical Software expert, having more than 5

years of experience in ETAP programming in industry).

Importance Of ETAP Software

Now a days , It is everywhere & most part of this

automation is based on the ETAP.

ETAP is the most comprehensive analysis platform

for the design, simulation, operation, and automation of

generation, distribution, and industrial power systems.

ETAP is developed under an established quality

assurance program and is used worldwide as a high

impact software. ETAP is completely localized in four

languages with translated output reports in six

languages.

ETAP is a powerful, user friendly and easy to use

tool with trusted output data and calculations. We are

very satisfied with ETAP’s performance.

Introduction of key electrical equipment

The load modeling and forecasting based on

knowledge of several factor like Customer

factor: type of consumption, electrical heating,

size of building, electrical appliances etc….

Time of factors: time of day, day of week (+

special days) & time of year.

Climate factors: temperature, humidity, solar

radiation etc..Other load correlated to the

target load

Pervious load value and load curve patterns.

ETAP MODE TOOLBAR

Mode toolbar is located on top of GUI just below

the file menu. Different Analysis Modes can be

selected from this Mode Toolbar according to the

requirement of the project. In ETAP 16, a

complete set of analyses has been provided

through the mode toolbar as given in the list

below:

• Load Flow: Used to perform load flow (or power flow) on power system modeled in one line diagram.

• Unbalanced Load Flow• ANSI Short Circuit Analysis• Motor Starting Analysis• Harmonic Analysis• Transient Analysis• Star Protection Coordination• Optimal Load Flow

• Reliability Analysis• Optimal Capacitor Placement• DC Load Flow• DC Short Circuit Analysis• Battery Sizing Analysis

The Topics discussed during Workshop

This session was conducted by Prof. N.D. Joshi he shares his idea

about the future after Electrical engineering in the Field of

the Software of electrical design. He also gives the idea

about the industry which are using the ETAP in different

sectors.

(1) Design of Protection Coordination of a Distribution Network in ETAP.

(2) Radial network

(3) Protection

(4) Fuses

(5) Circuit breakers

(6) Reclosers

(7) Coordination

(8) Modeling and Load Flow Analysis of a Small PowerSystem in ETAP

(9) Importance of Load Flow Studies

(10) Transmission Line Design

After this student learned on which base the programming of ETAP

is done, it’s only on the base of the Electrical Design of substation

& transmission network.

This was the last session of the student were learnt about the

software which is used for the programming of ETAP & also how to

use the software how to select the model of the transmission ine

for which we are making the program.

CONCLUSION ETAP Software is the most trusted software

for the design of Electrical Transmission line and design ofElectrical Power generation. After successfully completedseminar student aware about the introduction of the software &its benefit of Electrical Engineering course.

More than 40 Students from OMengineering colleges has successfully attended this workshop andgot the benefit of practical based approach of the etapprogramming which will be very much useful for the studentswhen they got the job in transmission & generation basedcompanies.
