GUEST LECTURES:
UPCOMING ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS IN CORE INDUSTRIES'
The guest lecture titled ‘Upcoming Electrical Systems in Core Industries' was organized by Department
of Electrical and Electronics Engineering for the Second Years on 21.02.2019 at F11. The session started
with a prayer song. Mr. D. Sundarasekaran, Retd. General Manager - Plant, Madras Fertilizers Limited
(MFL) was the invited guest speaker.
The resource person grabbed the attention and participation of the participants by throwing an
insight on few interesting learning techniques like getting out of shyness and giving the wrong answer.
Also he motivated the crowd giving the opportunities for electrical engineers in public sector companies
and their salary packages. He then channelised the expectations of the students meeting the government
policies and vision 2022, igniting their spirits.
The lecture clearly made the students understand the need for preparing for competitive exams
like GATE, IES to enter into a core industry.
EXPOSICA PROJECTO'
A project expo was conducted on 22.3.19 with the chief guest Mr. Kirubakaran Candasamy, Cheif
Technology Officer, KKMSOFT (P) Ltd., Chennai . We had 35 participants out of which, 26 are from
various Engineering college.

GUEST LECTURE ON ‘OPERATION AND NUCLEAR SAFETY OF NUCLEAR POWER
PLANTS'
The guest lecture titled ‘Operation and Nuclear Safety of Nuclear Power Plants' was organized
by Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering for the Second and Pre-final Years on
08.02.2019 at G01. The session started with a prayer song sung by the students of the department. Mr.
Nicolas Pot, Retd. Programme Director, World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) was the
invited guest speaker..
The lecture clearly made the students understand the need for nuclear power plants to meet the
ever-growing energy demand in the global context. He highlighted the different types of breeders
available kindled the students interests towards listening. He discussed various case studies and
reinforced the concepts learnt theoretically. It was an enlightening experience as he not only discussed
the various nuclear accidents at different parts of the globe but also briefed the lessons learnt from
them. Especially, the session became even more interesting while he discussed the most tragic and recent
nuclear accident at Fukushima Daiichi, which was the consequence of a tsunami attack. He gave us an
insight on the different options that could have been followed to avoid this disaster. He also through
light on various strategies that could be adopted to make the nuclear energy more safe and environmental
friendly.
The students thoroughly enjoyed the session and were quite interactive at the right moment. The
speaker extended his lecture hours even beyond the session time to patiently discuss all the nuclear
mishap world-wide. The session motivated the students and gave an insight on nuclear power
generation.
