The state of Maine’s Department of Conservation and Department ofInland Fisheries and Wildlife, including the warden service, maintain more than 90 structures on sites throughout the state. While some of the ranger stations, cabins and outbuildings are quite remote, others are in more heavily visited spots. These buildings aren’t open toeveryone, but whether you’re a state biologist doing research in thefield, a warden involved in law enforecement or a tourist exploring a popular vacation site, these state-owned properties play role in protecting and managing Maine’s conserved lands.
Department of Conservation sitesIncludes the facilities (or groups of facilities)of the Bureau of Parks and Lands, MaineForest Service, Bureau of Geology andNatural Areas and the Land Use Regulation Commission
