-Deadline to DROP a
Chemistry lab without a “W”:
BEFORE the END of the 2nd lab
meeting.
-A failure to show up to the first lab
meeting or show up 30 minutes late
will result in an automatic drop from
the class.
-Students who do not pass the Safety
Lab Exam will also be dropped from
the class/lab.

Applications for the Charles L. Perrin Summer Fellowship award are due this Monday, May 1st!

APPLICATION DEADLINE: May 1, 2017 AWARD AMOUNT: $1,000
Two students will be selected for this prestigious new fellowship. Professor Charles Perrin is one of the first members of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and a renowned organic chemist, who is widely recognized for his exceptional contributions to research, teaching, and service. In honor of his 50 years of service at UC San Diego, a group of former students, colleagues and family members have endowed a fellowship to support undergraduate summer research.
PURPOSE: This mer it-based fellowship recognizes students who show promise as future scientists through their participation in undergraduate chemistry research at UC San Diego. The fellowship is intended to provide support for continuation of their research in summer 2017 under the mentorship of a Chemistry professor. (Time commitment will be based on mutual agreement with the faculty mentor.)
ELIGIBILITY: To apply, you must be a registered UCSD undergraduate student major ing in Chemistry (CH25, CH32, CH31, CH33, CH34, CH35, CH36, CH37), with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. Applicants must have successfully participated in a research experience with a Chemistry faculty member through enrollment in CHEM 199.

Your application must include a cover letter, CV, a letter of recommendation from your research mentor, and one paragraph describing your proposed summer research project.
