The DBE wishes to appoint Subject and Assessment Specialists (Teachers, Subject Advisors, Lecturers) who have a proven track record of having excelled in their fields to serve as Examiners and Internal Moderators for the following subjects: Accounting Geography Agricultural Management Practice History Agricultural Science Hospitality Studies Agricultural Technology Information Technology Business Studies Life Sciences Computer Applications Technology Mathematics Consumer Studies Mathematical Literacy Civil Technology Mechanical Technology Dance Studies Music Design Physical Sciences Dramatic Arts Religion Studies Economics Tourism Electrical Technology Visual Arts Engineering, Graphics and Design 11 Official Languages: IsiZulu Home Language (HL), First Additional Language (FAL), Second Additional Language (SAL) IsiNdebele HL, FAL, SAL Sepedi HL, FAL, SAL IsiXhosa HL, FAL, SAL Sesotho HL, FAL, SAL Siswati HL, FAL, SAL Setswana HL, FAL, SAL English HL, FAL, SAL Xitsonga HL, FAL, SAL Afrikaans HL, FAL, SAL TshiVenda HL, FAL, SAL All appointments will be on a part-time basis (for the 2013 – 2015 NSC Examinations) and the appointed candidates will be expected to take leave from their current employment to carry out this function on a periodic basis. Examiners and Moderators will also be expected to work over weekends and public holidays. The role of the Examiners and Internal Moderators will be as follows: Examiners: Setting of high quality question papers and accompanying marking guidelines which adheres to policies as prescribed in the National Curriculum Statement (NCS) up to 2013 and Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statements (CAPS) from 2014 onwards. Internal Moderators: Critical review and quality assurance of question papers, accompanying marking guidelines and analysis grids, so as to ensure they satisfy the quality standards stipulated by UMALUSI. The minimum requirements for appointment as an Examiner/Internal Moderator are as follows: ●A recognised three-year post Matric qualification which must include the subject concerned at second or third year level ●Extensive experience as an Educator in the particular subject or a related area and at least 2 years teaching or other curriculum-related experience within the last 5 years at Grade 12 level ●Experience as a Marker at Grade 12 level. In addition, applicants should: ●Have experience in developing assessment tasks/question papers for learners beyond their own classrooms ●Have in-depth knowledge of the subject and a post-graduate qualification in the subject will serve as an advantage ●Be able to work under pressure, pay attention to detail and produce error-free outputs ●Adhere strictly to deadlines ●Possess excellent writing skills ●Possess excellent interpersonal skills and be a good team player ●Possess good computer skills and be competent in the software packages required for the particular subject. Shortlisted candidates will be subjected to a competency test. Interviews will only be conducted for candidates who are successful in the competency test. Applications must be made on a Z83 form, available from any Government department or website. Applicants must indicate the SUBJECT for which they are applying, together with the preferred position in Block A of the Z83 form. Applications must include a CV (containing only information pertinent to the position being applied for) and certified copies of Identity Document and relevant qualifications. Applicants must, in addition, submit a motivation for appointment (maximum of one page).
