About Export House

Export House, Woking, United Kingdom, also known sometimes as

the BAT Building due to its former tenant British American Tobacco, is

the tallest building in Woking and one of the tallest buildings in Surrey. Its

height is 73 metres (240 ft) and has 18 storeys.

History

Export House formed part of the first major town centre development in

the second largest town in Surrey, Woking, post-war. It was built at thesame time as the Wolsey Place Shopping Centre, which is

a contiguousbuilding. Export House is the tallest building in the borough

of Woking. Construction of Export House finished in 1974 although it was

not ready for tenants until 1976 which is when the first lessee, BAT, began

to lease the whole building.

Tenants and lessees

In 1976, British American Tobacco (BAT) moved in as the first tenant,

making it their headquarters. Export House had already been completed

two years previously in 1974. In 1997 it was announced that BAT were

relocating to a new building in London. Telewest moved in to Export House

during Summer 2001 after a 15million refurbishment. Telewest had

rented the top six floors for about a year before they moved permanently to

Export House. Their previous base was in Sheerwater. However, Telewestleft in 2006 after a merger with NTL. In 2008 Mustang Engineering moved

into Export House.

It is now occupied by the Mouchel Group PLC, who moved from West Hall

in nearbyWest Byfleet.

Future

A nearby development called Victoria Way has been approved. The tower of

this development would have been two metres taller than Export House.

The development has been on hold for a couple of years. In 2012 the design

of Victoria Way changed to a 15-floor officeblock.

Architecture

Export House is a Brutalist style architecture that was common in the

1960s and 70s similar to towers such as London's Guy's

Hospital and Trellick Tower. In Surrey, comparable buildings are the

Chubb Tower, Sunbury on Thames and just across the Surrey border

from Ewell (beside the A3 northeast ofClaygate), the Tolworth

Tower, Tolworth. Export House has stairs all the way to the top on one side

of the building as well as two lifts. The building also has many radio and

telecom masts on the roof. Export House dominates the skyline ofWoking.

Our acid metal complex dyes and jacquard acid dye have application in silk,

wool, nylon and modified acrylic fibers from neutral to acid dye baths.

Manufactured keeping the various requirements of our clients in mind, our

acidic dyes and jacquard acid dye are non-caustic, are in many cases non-

toxic and deliver superior results.

Acid dyes are used both commercially as well as by the studio dyer to dye

protein / animal fibers like wool, silk, mohair, angora, alpaca and some

nylons and synthetics. These acid dyes require the use of an acid such as

vinegar, acetic or sulphuric acid to attain the desired color.Acid dyes can
