These 50’ flat cars with fishbelly sides and side mount brake wheel are painted black with white letting and run on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. They were set up as articulated pairs in the mid-1960s and numbered 20025-20039AB for container service. Ten of the GSI cars were also paired in the early 1980s and renumbered 80000-80005AB. Also in the 1980s,cars were carrying refrigerated containers RGTU 500007 and 500011. The containers were used to transport solid fuel rocket motors, but they later re-stenciled with SEIU reporting reporting marks.

Postcard Series-Santa Car

This 50’ flat car is painted Olive Drab with white lettering and carries a 40’ gray container featuring real WWII nose art known as ‘Buckaroo.’ Like many planes in WWII, this B-24J bomber was decorated with custom artwork by its pilot to personalize the plane. The ‘Buckaroo’ B-24J bomber was part of the 8th Air Force, the 446th Bomb Group and 704th Squadron.

This 31’ bay window caboose was built as part of series 437265-437267 and is painted yellow with the ‘Pacman’ logo and runs on Bettendorf Swing Motion trucks. This paint scheme was repainted in the Ogden Shops, December 1977, and was fitted with a fuel tank on its roof.

This car is the first of nine releases in the ‘Vintage Christmas Postcard Series’. This modified 40’ box car features vintage postcard artwork of Santa driving a buggy full of presents on one side and a special postcard message from Micro-Trains on the other side.

This 56’ general service tank car is painted black with white lettering and runs on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. Built by ACF as part of series 723002-723626, this AAR type T106 tank car was designed to handle food-grade oils, ethanol, petroleum productions and various chemicals.

This 40’ despatch stock car is painted maroon with white lettering and runs on Bettendorf trucks. Built by Standard Steel Cars in 1929 and General American in 1930, these double deck cars were for moving sheep and hogs. While the single deck cars could also, they were generally preferred for cattle. These cars carried the stepped “The Milwaukee Road” all their lives.

This 50’ flat car wtih fishbelly sides and side mount brake wheel is painted boxcar red with white lettering and runs on Bettendorf trucks. Built in 1950 by the General American Transportation Corporation in Chicago, the NYC system was the largest of the eastern trunk systems from the standpoint of mileage, and second only to the Pennsylvania in revenue.

This 50’ gondola with fishbelly sides and drop ends was built by Pennsylvania railroad shop in 1940 and wears the pre-1953 iron oxide paint scheme with circle keystone herald in white. It ran on National B-1 trucks.

This 50’ standard box car with double doors and no roofwalk was one of seven cars equipped with six partial DF-2 belts for shipment of auto transmissions. Wearing the C&O blue and yellow words “Cushion Underframe”,done in Art Deco Script, it ran on Bettendorf trucks. Both Superior and Youngstown doors were used with this class.

Northern Pacific Powered F7A & F7B Units

These powered F7A and B unit locomotives are built by General Motors EMD and are painted in the well-known two-tone green scheme. NP assembled their F locos in three-unit sets for passenger service and four-unit sets for freight service.

This center cupola caboose is painted freight car red and runs on Bettendorf trucks. Built in 1962 as part of series 1100-1149 by International Car Co., NP began renumbering cabooses in anticipation of BN merger. The renumbering put NP cabooses in the 10000 series, keeping the last three digits of the original number.

These 60’ bulkhead flat cars are painted blue with white lettering and run on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. Built in 1968 by Marine Industries as part of series 160325-160374 they carry a load of pipe. The GN’s route was the northernmost transcontinental railroad route in the United States.

Union Oil Company of California is a defunct company that was a major petroleum explorer and marketer from the late 19th century into the early 21st century. It was head quartered in El Segundo, CA. It was founded on October 17, 1890.
