Watch For the New Traffic Signals

The city of Thornton will install two new traffic signals. One at 120th Avenue and Jasmine Street that will be operational before the start of the school year. This signal will improve ingress and egress during school hours at Glacier Peak Elementary School as well as help create a safe pedestrian connection to the bus stop across 120th Avenue. The other signal will be a pedestrian “HAWK” signal on Huron Street roughly 200 feet north of Gale Boulevard. This will complete the pedestrian connection for the Niver Nature Trail and provide a regional connection to access the 88th Avenue and I-25 Park-N-Ride. “HAWK” signals are only active when a pedestrian needs to cross the street; an example of this type of signal can be found on Huron Street just north of 84th Avenue at Pinnacle Charter School.
