This resulted in a significant increase in required production labor which impacted on the competitiveness of the Croydon plant. Denso’s local team responded with innovative but low cost automation. Since that time, Denso has completed 20 projects resulting in a combined labor reduction of 34 with an average payback of 1.2 years. Further to the cost savings, automation projects have generally enhanced quality and safety and improved the technical capability of the manufacturing teams.
