DeMKo® SPeCIaL SuPPoRt FRaMe essential for effective support

Extensive structural research has gone into the development of the special support frame. As a result of this, the support frame boosts the effectiveness of the slatted insert by 30% through its efficient action when the lower row of slats, resting on the longitudinal batons, is placed under load. The support frame can be fitted with a motorised head and foot raiser, as well as special lifting supports.

Our support frames can naturally also be used on their own, and not just as a part of the BioSystem.

DeMKo® SPeCIaL SuPPoRt FRaMe The DEMKO® Special Support Frame ensures optimal support for the slatted insert.The robust beams of the support frame, with strengthening ribs that are secured with concealed doweling, make up a divided frame. The felt-covered beams are interlocked with the strengthening ribs, with spacing that ensures a stable surface for the DEMKO Special Double-row Slatted Insert. The distance between the felt-covered beams, which determines the precise positioning of the points at which the slatted insert is supported, is the result of structural calculations and experiments, ensuring the optimal functioning of the DEMKO® BioSystem. The felt covering of the beams ensures silent functioning.A manual head raiser can be fitted to the support frame at any time, making it possible to raise the head part by several degrees in order to increase comfort, and in special cases to assist in the process of healing.The head and foot parts can be temporarily or permanently raised by up to 5 cm. For this purpose we recommend our head and foot height adjustment adapters. The other components of the system – the DEMKO® Special Double-row Slatted Insert and the DEMKO® organic mattress – are at their most effective when used with the DEMKO® Special Support Frame.

Construction: The two beams with a cross-section of 60 x 30 mm are linked by three strengthening ribs with a cross-section of 45 x 30 mm , which are glued and secured with concealed doweling. The positioning of the strengthening ribs makes it possible to retrofit the manual head raiser, while is also made from solid beech.The two felt-covered beams with a cross-section of 30 x 40 are attached to the strengthening ribs with a direct interlocking joint.

Installation: The support frame can be placed in a single bed frame on batons secured to the bed rails at the appropriate height, or, in the absence of these, on stable fixed or height-adjustable legs. In the case of a double bed frame, two support frames are inserted side-by-side, supported in the middle by the central beam of the bed frame. If the bed frame has no central beam, two fixed or height-adjustable legs need to be attached as a central support. In double beds, two mattresses of differing thickness may also be used (usually with a 2 cm difference). In this case, one of the DEMKO® support frames must be 4 cm in height. The structure of this support frame is the same as a normal one with 6 cm height.

Care and maintenance: The DEMKO® Special Support Frame requires no special care and maintenance.

DeMKo® SPeCIaL DouBLe-RoW SLatteD InSeRta cradle for the spine

The double-row slatted insert is made from beech wood using special technology, with three or more flexible pads running the length of the insert between the two rows of slats. The slatted insert conforms perfectly to the contours of the body, supporting the spine evenly at every point. The spi-nal discs and bony vertebrae are held in the optimal position, tension is reduced, and the formation of harmful stress points is avoided. This makes it an excellent means of preventing or treating lumbar pain and other forms of back pain and diseases. The exceptional properties of the double-row slat-ted insert make this an unmatched sleep product.

Our slatted inserts can naturally also be used on their own, and not just as a part of the BioSystem.

DeMKo® SPeCIaL DouBLe-RoW SLatteD InSeRtThe heart of the DEMKO® BioSystem is the double-row slatted insert, which provides even support for the natural curves of the spine. This makes it an ideal tool for preventing and/or alleviating back pain.The components of the DEMKO® special double-row slatted insert are uniquely capable of longitudinal, latitudinal and torsional movement. It’s chief purpose is to alleviate pressure on the spine, and provide it with even support. It effectively helps to relax the muscles and joints in the spinal region, thereby ensuring peaceful, relaxing sleep. It has an exceptionally beneficial effect for the alleviation of spinal and limb disorders, and is an excellent means of preventing them.

The DEMKO® BioSystem special slatted insert can only be used with the DEMKO® Special Support Frame, and is at its most effective when used together with DEMKO® organic mattresses.

Maintenance: It is advisable to periodically turn the DEMKO® special slatted inserts over, so the upper row faces downwards and vice-versa. It is also possible to turn the slats over individually, which is recommended in the areas that are under a heavier load. We advise doing this at least twice a year.

Construction: Three foam strips with a cross section of 75 x 75 mm in a case sewn from webbing, with pockets and sockets on the top and bottom for securing the slats (flexible units). These hold the two sets of 40-41 ribbed beech slats with a cross section of 31 x 7.5 mm. The webbing case has a zippered opening, so if necessary the cover can be dry-cleaned or replaced, as can the foam insert. The slats are easy to remove, replace or turn on their axis.

eXtRa slatted insert

Construction: this model is firmer than the NORMAL slatted insert, and so we recommend it for people with a significantly higher that average body weight.

Composition: Four flexible units, two of which are laced in the centre; the distance between these can be set as desired. In all other aspects it is identical to the Normal slatted insert.

Construction: instead of the flexible units laced in the centre, several shorter flexible units are placed in a staggered configuration. The distance between them makes it possible to individually configure the support for the hips and back. In all its other structural aspects, it is identical to the Normal and Extra slatted inserts.

DeMKo oRGanIC anD otHeR MattReSSeS

The mattress is one of the most important parts of the bed, with the greatest role in ensuring your comfort. Its properties are determined by its structure, composition, and the materials it is made from. The mattress is one means of supporting a sleeping body, but on its own or with a conventional single-row wood-sprung insert it is incapable of meeting all the requirements for ideal sleep (perfect support for the body and spine, optimal flexibility, motion damping, freedom from tension points, comfort, climatic effect, etc.).Most people only truly experience the extra comfort that the three-part DEMKO® BioSystem can offer when they change their existing mattress for a DEMKO® organic mattress. This is something that everyone should try!In addition to the BioSystem® mattresses, we also offer high quality stand-alone organic and other mattress types in a variety of thicknesses. All our mattresses are long-lasting, shape-retaining, and excellent value for money.

Sleep specialists agree that mattress types consisting of a block, slab or layers, made from natural basic materials, or from materials with a similar molecular composition, make the ideal surface for sleeping on. Please note that, in accordance with our sleep philosophy, metal-sprung (Bonell) mattresses have no place in the DEMKO® BioSystem range. (Sleeping on metal, wire netting, springs or water for long periods is not advised.)

When designing the various mattress types, we took into consideration the characteristics and diversity of the human body. The main aspects considered in the design process are age, body weight, state of health, sleeping habits and differing comfort needs.

DeMKo® oRGanIC anD otHeR MattReSSeS

BaSIC MateRIaLS

DEMKO® organic mattresses are made of natural materials that possess special properties, or which otherwise meet all the quality requirements neces-sary for a healthy body and spine, and for a good night’s sleep.

One of our most important basic materials is latex, which is the main load-bearing element in the mat-tress, and has exceptionally beneficial properties. Today, mattresses consisting of a slab of pure latex with several firmness zones are the most popular, due to their comfort and long life.

Another important basic material is coconut coir, which is less shape-retaining, has a shorter life and less flexibility than pure latex, but its other valu-able properties nevertheless make it very useful: in layered mattresses it has a stiffening function, reducing the weight of the mattress, and it it highly breathable, creating good climatic conditions.

1. Latex

Natural latex: A breathable slab of foam with closed pores, made from natural caoutchouc, with one or more firmness zones. It has excellent flexibility and strength, and is exceptionally responsive.

Latex mix: Made from 20% natural latex and 80% closed cell foam slab, which has a similar molecular structure, incorporating air vents. This is a lighter, longer-lasting, environmentally friendly product in a lower price bracket.

Latex slab sizes: 90 x 200cm. Thicknesses: 25, 40, 60, 80, 100 és 120mm.

2. Coconut coir

A highly breathable slab made from plant fibres (the seeds of the coconut palm) in a range of thick-nesses and sizes, moulded into shape using caou-tchouc (latex) rubber solution and heat treatment. This is a moderately flexible, firm product with moderate shape retention and excellent thermal insulation properties. Slab sizes: 90 x 200 cm Thicknesses: 30, 60 cm

3. Cotton

The core slab of the mattress is enveloped in cot-ton, which is extremely important due to its excel-lent climatic and body-friendly properties.

It improves the sense of comfort, and helps air to circulate below the outer covering.

4. other materials used in mattresses (normal and cold foams)

In response to consumer demand, our range also includes mattresses made from normal and cold foam (polyurethane) using a special chemical pro-cess. These are more economically priced, but also have different properties. They can have one or several firmness zones.

These are chiefly used in mattresses for hotels, and in children’s mattresses

5. Mattress slip

All mattresses are given their final form by a slip made from Bamboo-Soft fabric.

Composition: 44% bamboo, 56% Polyester. It is an excellent regulator of heat, highly absorbent and breathable. It also has antibacterial properties. If offers natural protection against bacteria and fungus, and is anti-allergenic. It is washable at 40°C.Our products are also available upon request with a slip made of 100% cotton-based canvass, which may only be dry-cleaned.

Demko I/a mattress: (Single sleeping surface, firm, up to 60 kg)80 x 200 x 6 cm, 90 x 200 x 6 cm

This mattress, containing 2.5 cm of latex and 3 cm of coconut coir, is the simplest type that is suitable for use with the double-row slatted insert. The thinner latex layer makes it a firmer mattress. Its durability depends on the weight and sleeping habits of the user. We recommend this product for younger people, and those with a lower body weight who prefer a firm mattress due to lumbago or other spine problems.


Demko I/B mattress: (Single sleeping surface, moderately firm, up to 70-80 kg)80 x 200 x 8 cm, 90 x 200 x 8 cm

We recommend this mattress, which contains 4 cm latex and 3 cm coconut coir, for customers of average body weight seeking a quality coconut mattress. This is a health-promoting, comfortably firm yet by no means hard mattress. It transmits the effects of the slatted insert well.

Demko I/C mattress: (Single sleeping surface, decidedly firm, 70-80 kg)80 x 200 x 9 cm, 90 x 200 x 9 cm

This mattress contains 2.5 cm of latex and 3 cm of coconut coir.It was introduced in response to requests for a mattress that is firmer than the I/A type. Increasing the thickness of the coconut coir boosts firmness, and also raises the load-bearing capacity. Naturally, this means that unique effect of the slatted insert is dampened somewhat.

one-SIDeD oRGanIC MattReSSeS FoR uSe WItH DouBLe-RoW SLatteD InSeRtS:

Demko I/D mattress:(Two sleeping surfaces, firm, up to 80-90 kg)80 x 200 x 9 cm, 90 x 200 x 9 cm

This mattress, made up of 2.5 cm latex, 3 cm coconut coir and another 2.5 cm latex, has a higher load-bearing capacity than the I/A type, so is intended for people with a higher body weight. Although it does lose a little of its firmness, the use of both sides makes it longer-lasting. It is popular among people of average body weight.


Demko I/e mattress: (Two sleeping surfaces, double-sided, comfortable, up to 120 kg)80 x 200 x 12 cm, 90 x 200 x 12 cm

This is a highly popular model among heavier customers who favour coconut coir mattresses.It is made up of 4 cm latex, 3 cm coconut coir and another 4 cm of latex. It is a more comfortable, thicker variant of the I/B mattress. It is a heavy duty, long-lasting, comfortable mattress. For lighter people it can dampen the effect of the slatted insert.

Demko I/e-D mattress: (A comfortable mattress with two sleeping surfaces, 70-120 kg)80 x 200 x 10 cm, 90 x 200 x 10 cm

One side of this mattress, which is consists of a combination of 4 cm latex, 3 cm coconut coir and another 2,5 cm of latex, is softer than the other. It is more comfortable than the I/D, and a little firmer than the I/E, which makes it very popular among the young and sufferers of a “bad back”. With back and lumbar pain of varying intensity, the two sides can be alternated to good effect. With the Normal, three-strip slatted insert it is ideal for older people, or with the Extra or Comfort insert it could be suitable for younger and middle-aged people, naturally depending on their body weight..

The most popular mattress type, recommended for everyone. It is made of an 8 cm or 10 cm thick latex slab, with 85% natural latex content. It is highly responsive and flexible, retains its shape and is long-lasting. It can be reversed, and is the best at bringing out the slatted bed insert’s ability to conform to and support the spine. This is the ideal mattress for use with the DEMKO® BioSystem.

It may be made from a 6 cm, 8 cm or 10 cm slab. Its basic material consists of 20% natural latex and 80% synthetic material with a molecular structure corresponding to that of natural latex. It has excellent properties. It is responsive and long-lasting, and its ability to conform to the shape of the body and spine are similar to that of the I/F type mattresses.We recommend the I/G6 mattress for children and light adults, or those who want to feel the maximum effect of the slatted insert (through the thin comfort layer).

We recommend this type of mattress for use with a single-row, wood-sprung support frame. It is made from thick, natural raw materials, using 4 cm latex, 6 cm coconut coir and another 4 cm of latex. It is not recommended for use with Demko slatted inserts, as its thickness prevents the insert from conforming fully to the contours of the body. It is flexible and breathable, and with the proper support it is long-lasting with a high load-bearing capacity. We recommend it for anyone who prefers natural materials and likes to sleep on a relatively firm, yet comfortable surface.


Demko III/C mattress: (A responsive mattress with a comfortable thickness, with two sleeping surfaces, up to 120 kg.)80 x 200 x 13 cm, 90 x 200 x 13 cm

We recommend this type of mattress for use with a single-row, wood-sprung support frame. Thick, made with12 cm latex. This product is not recommended for use with the Demko slatted inserted, as its thickness prevents the insert from conforming fully to the contours of the body. The mattress core is multi-zoned, with alternating slightly harder and slightly softer surfaces. For someone of average build and height it provides ideal support for the human body, conforming to the natural contours of the spine whether the user lies on their back or side.Used with a flexible, properly ventilated base it is long-lasting with a high load-bearing capacity. We recommend it for anyone who prefers natural materials and likes to sleep on a responsive, comfortable surface.

A highly breathable slab made from plant fibres, moulded into shape using caoutchouc (latex) rubber solution and heat treatment. The mattress is encased in multiple layers of cotton and a washable Bamboo Soft cover, and is available in sizes 70 x 140 or 60 x 120 cm. It is ideal for babies.

Construction: The components of the headboard and footboard are assembled with adhesive-bonded joints using dowels.The batons supporting the bed base are secured to the bed rails with adhesive and dowels.The bed boards and rails are assembled with 3 mounting studs and 2 sets of cam-lock screws and nuts for each joint. The DEMKO® bed insert system (lower support frame, slatted base, mattress) fits into the bed frame without fastening.
