In high-value offshore wells, you use drilling fluids with low equivalent circulation density (ECD) to protect the formation. Typical low-ECD drilling mud can sag when you have to pause the drilling operation.

When the pumps restart, pressure in the wellbore spikes. Most low-ECD fluids are simply not formulated to protect the wellbore against pressure spikes.

Once an unwanted fracture happens, you are fighting an uphill battle to stem fluid loss and avoid excessive NPT.

Your odds of staying inside your pressure window go down exponentially, and you may not be able to drill the target depth.

And when running casing, surge pressures can force typical low-ECD drilling mud out into formation.

DELTA-TEQ low-impact, non-aqueous drilling fluid outperforms typical low-ECD drilling muds.It is formulated to reduce hydraulic impact on the wellbore, minimize the delta between static and circulating density, and protect against excess surge.

That means you can avoid unwanted fractures and mud losses, and effectively extend the drilling window.

Low hydraulic impactThe low hydraulic impact designed into the DELTA-TEQ fluid system absorbs pressure spikes. This protects the wellbore, helps stop losses, and keeps you consistently inside the drilling window.

So you retain fluid integrity if you have to shut off the pumps and pause operations.

Sag-resistant properties keep solids suspended, even when the fluid column is static.
