The Gateway Between Vehicle, Independent Garage andVehicle Manufacturer.

What it Does.

In accordance with Euro 5 legislation, vehicle manufacturers are required to allow the independent garage access to vehicle repair and maintenance information from their website. Using Delphi’s new J2534 compatible Euro 5 Pass-Thru VCI (vehicle communication interface), technicians can simply connect the vehicle to a computer with internet connection, access software directly from the VM and then download to the vehicle. Typical examples of Pass-Thru use are when the vehicles’ ECU units have been changed, or when the manufacturer has released a software update. This gives the garage the ability to reprogramme vehicle ECUs for Euro 5 type approved cars (some manufacturers will allow ECU updating for earlier vehicles), without the need for a special dealer only tool.

Before Starting a Software Download.

Check whether a software download is required before you start. Link through Delphi’s Euro 5 portal delphi-euro5.com to theVM’swebsitetofindoutifthereisanyinformationavailable.

Make sure that there are no error codes present on the vehicle/ECU before the software is downloaded.

VMwebsitescanbedifficulttonavigate–goodITknowledge is always an advantage.

Carefully follow the VM’s instructions throughout the entire process. If the download fails you might have to start over again.

Do not start the software download late in the day. Even though some downloads only require 10-20 minutes, others can take hours.

Make sure you have a good internet connection so that the download is not interrupted.

Use an external power supply/battery support unit with high capacity and supply mode connected to the vehicle. Voltage drop may cause the download to interrupt and, worst case, damage the control units.

Have a credit card at hand. Most VMs charge for access to their portals and for data, information and downloads.

Perform update. The vehicle is updated with the latest version directly from the vehicle manufacturer.
