Step 1 — Battery

Before any work can be done ensurethat the laptop is powered off.

Use either the power button on thecomputer or issue a shutdown fromthe operating system.

Once the device is off place thelaptop on a flat surface and flip it sothat the bottom is facing upwards.

Step 2

Locate the battery release switch onthe bottom of the laptop.

Once located slide the switch intothe unlock position.

Step 3

Locate the “lip” on the laptop to liftthe battery outside of thecompartment.

Once the battery is out, you will beable to find the replacement partnumber in order to purchase a newbattery.

Step 4

Once the new battery has beenacquired take the battery and placeit in the empty battery slot.

Slide the switch into the lockposition to secure the new battery.

Step 5 — Back Door removal

On the back of the laptop there is acompartment for the modem foreasy access.

It is located right above the switchfor the battery and has two phillipshead screws as well as a sticker forthe laptops product key.

Unscrew the two screws with ascrewdriver and lift the backplate upto unveil the Modem.

Step 6

There are two metal tabs on each ofthe sticks of phone modem.

Press each of the tabs outward andthe modem stick should slide up.

Gently pull the stick of phonemodem out and get the productnumber to get replacement modem.

Do this for both of the sticks ofphone modem.

Step 7 — Inserting a new modem

Inserting new Wireless Card: Lineup the Wireless Card by makingsure the slot on the Wireless Cardstick lines up with the slot on thelaptop.

Insert it at slight angle while it linedup.

Gently press the stick of WirelessCard down until the two metal tabssnap it back in.

Repeat this as necessary.
