NCSC ACCOLADES
Our school participated in National Children Science Congress 2017-18 held at Shambhu
Dayal Inter College on 2nd November 2017. 150 teams from various school of the region
participated in the Science Congress and presented their research work on Sustainable
Development for healthy life. Srishti Tyagi, Alishba Anis, Samiskha Garg and Manya
Nangia of class X presented their paper on Algae a biofuel used for industrialization and
reducing environmental pollution. The school team presented an innovative methodology
of preparing algae and utilizing it to curb environmental issues and won accolades for their
work. They have been selected to participate in the State level competition to be held in
Allahabad. These young minds of our school have also received some fabulous feedback
from the eminent judges.
DISTRICT LEVEL SCIENCE EXHIBITION
Ekansh Agarwal of class XI C participated in District Level Science Exhibition – 2017,
organized by Govt. of U.P in collaboration with District Administration, Ghaziabad, held at
Rajkiya Inter College Nandgram. His project was selected among the best 20 projects from
over 100 projects that were exhibited at the exhibition by over 80 schools of the district.
It was highly enriching experience and inspired students to explore various aspects of
science and technology.
COUNCIL OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY UP, SCIENCE EXHIBITION 2017
Ekansh Agarwal of class XI S & Lavish Daksh of class VIII A participated in the Council of
Science and Technology UP, Science Exhibition 2017 Organized by Govt. of U.P, to
inculcate scientific temperament among children.
Lavish Daksh participated in the junior category with his project Instant Beverage Cooler
“FRIGIT’’, a product that cools any type of beverage bottle in minutes. It was selected as the
best innovative project in Uttar Pradesh & got a cash prize of 30,000/-. In the senior
category Ekansh Agarwal’s project bagged the second position & got a cash prize of
25,000/-. The project was regarding the “magnetic confinement of plasma”. It was based
on generating electricity from very low voltage to high voltage at low cost. The students’
work was highly appreciated by the judges.
DEBATING SKILL WORKSHOP
At Debating Skill Workshop and Competition held at Nehru World School, Aditi Singh of
Class XII H won the first place and the school team was adjudged the best team. The
resource persons Mr. Marc from British Council and Mr. Vibhor Mathur, a renowned orator
discussed the nuances of the art of debating and gave tips to become successful debater.
BIOLOGY BRAINIAC -2017
BIOLOGY INTER SCHOOL QUIZ
Students of class XII participated in the Inter School Quiz Biology Brainiac conducted by
Biotechnology Department IMS Engineering College, Ghaziabad on 27th November
2017.The quiz started with an interactive session regarding various careers options
available for Biology students. The students found the session informative and actively
participated in the school round of quiz conducted by Dr. Abhimanyu from IMS
Engineering college, Ghaziabad.
‘PAHAL’ – A NEW BUSINESS VENTURE
The commerce department celebrated ‘World Entrepreneurship Day’ by setting up their
store ‘PAHAL’ in central well of the school. The store sold gift items and products specially
made by the students for the event. The students learned the practical aspects and
applications of the fundamentals of commerce and trading through the entire exercise of
making, procuring and selling goods. The store created a lot of interest among the other
students who came to make purchases and the goods were soon sold out. The proceeds of the
sales will be donated to a NGO by the students.
A RENDEZVOUS WITH ANCIENT ARCHITECTURE
Class IX and XI Humanities students visited the Purana Quila – an ancient monument
located in Delhi as a part of the Heritage Walk. 40 students visited the ancient structure
built by the Mughal king Humayun in 1533 and learnt about Islamic and Indian
architectural styles and how composite motifs were used to adorn the wall. The students also
visited Kuhna Masjid, Sher Mandal, the Hamam and the Baoli. They were guided by Ms.
Swapna Liddle who in association with Spic Macay organized and conducted the walk.
HINDUSTANI CLASSICAL VOCAL RECITAL BY WASIFUDDIN DAGAR JI
The school in association with Spic Macay organized an enthralling performance of
Hindustani Classical Vocal rendered by the renowned vocalist Padamshree Ustad F.
Wasifuddin Dagarji on the occasion of Children’s Day. Dagarji was accompanied by Pt.
Mohan Shyam Sharma ji on the pakhawaj. After the lighting of the ceremonial lamp the
Principal Anita Sethi accorded a formal welcome to the guests and thanked them for
gracing our school with their presence. Dagarji began his performance by building a
rapport with the students and explained the various nuances of classical singing in detail.
He also urged the students to sing along with him and extolled the virtues of Classical vocal
traditions. The children were left spell bound by his rendition of various ragas.
TRAFFIC AWARENESS SESSION
The school in association with the Traffic Police Ghaziabad celebrated November as the
Traffic Month. As a part of this endeavor the school organized a traffic awareness session
which was conducted by Traffic Sub Inspector Mr. Vimal Kumar and his team. The session
focused on the importance following traffic rules and regulations for our safety. Mr. Vimal
explained to the students some precautions that should be observed while driving their
scootys in the wake of the increasing number of accidents involving youth riding scooty and
other two wheelers. Students promised to follow the rules and regulations and create
awareness among others also.
TRAFFIC RALLY - 2017
Our Students participated in the rally conducted by Traffic Department at Ramleela
ground, Kavi Nagar Ghaziabad on 21st November 2017 to spread awareness towards Road
Safety and sensitize people towards following traffic regulations. The event was conducted
to celebrate traffic month by the traffic department. It was attended by the Traffic
Authorities and students of various schools of Ghaziabad.
TRAFFIC VIGILANCE MONTH - Closing Ceremony and Felicitation
The Closing Ceremony of Traffic Vigilance month was organized by traffic department on
30th November,2017 at Police lines Ghaziabad which was presided over by District
Magistrate Ms. Ritu Maheshwari. ADM City Ms. Preeti Jaiswal, Commissioner Traffic and
SP City along with Principals and students of various schools of Ghaziabad were also
present on the occasion. Sanyam Manglik class VIII and Shruti Gaur of class XI were
awarded second and fourth prize respectively in Painting Competition organized by the
traffic department. The school was also felicitated for its active participation in the Traffic
Vigilance Month and creating an awareness towards safety and traffic rules.
DIGITAL MANUFACTURING WORKSHOP
The students attended a one-day workshop on Digital Manufacturing conducted by
AKGEC Skills Foundation, Ghaziabad in association with Fab Foundation of Massachusetts
Institute of Technology(MIT). It was informative workshop where the students experienced
hands on training of 3-D cutting and 3-D printing of plastic parts. Students also gained
knowledge about an array of computer- controlled tools covering different lengths, scales
and various materials.
Vigilance Week
The students celebrated Vigilance Awareness Week from 30th October to 4th November,
2017. The theme of the being “My Vision-Corruption Free India”. Observance of Vigilance
Awareness Week every year is part of a multi-pronged approach of the Commission
wherein one of the strategies is to encourage all stakeholders to collectively participate in
the prevention and the fight against corruption. Following this strategy, the school
conducted various activities for the students. Students of class IV and V participated in
slogan writing and cartoon making competition based on theme Corruption Free India. The
GK board and News Board was updated with information on Vigilance week for the
students to read. A Special assembly was also conducted to make students aware of Sardar
Vallabhai Patel and his contribution in our country. Students also took a pledge to join
hands and make India a corruption free country.
CANCER AWARENESS DAY
The primary wing observed the National Cancer Awareness Day with a special assembly
conducted by Class IV Daisy to raise awareness about cancer and to encourage its
prevention, detection, and treatment. The teachers spoke about the significance of the day
and the reason for observing the same and enhanced their knowledge by making them
aware of the meaning of cancer, symptoms, causes and ways to prevent it.
CELEBRATING BLACK COLOUR DAY
The students of Starz celebrated “Black Colour Day” with a show and tell activity in which
they got a black colour object from home and spoke few lines on the same. Students had a
circle time activity of black colour in which students coloured their handouts. Later they
heard the story of ‘Thirsty Crow’. It was followed by a hands-on experience where the
students enjoyed putting pebbles in a glass of water to see how the water level rises up.
CELEBRATING CHILDREN'S DAY
Children's Day was celebrated with lots of cheer on 14th of November as a tribute to
Jawaharlal Nehru on his birthday. The school organized different events for the children.
The tiny tots of STARZ came dressed in party clothes, held a special assembly and enjoyed
fun races along with a class party. They made roses by tearing and pasting technique and
the other students of Primary Wing enjoyed various fun races, other games.
LET’S MIX IT UP
To introduce students to varied cultures from around the world, a collage making activity
on Festivals was conducted. After a discussion on various festivals celebrated across the
world the students expressed their knowledge and skills through their beautifully made
collages.
DIVIDE AND LEARN
As children handle money, share things with friends and cut food into portions they begin to
build up their division and multiplication skills as part of their everyday life. Few activities
like dividing things and putting them in hoopla rings, hanging equal number of cherries on
each tree and distributing fake money among the group were taken up in class 2 Daisy to
clear the concept of division and multiplication. They also learnt some key words associated
with the concept.
FIRST VISIT TO THE LABORATORY
The students of Class II of DPSGI were taken on a visit to the Science Laboratory to enhance
their knowledge on the on-going theme – How the World Works. The facilitator
demonstrated the concept of Evaporation and Condensation to the students using
experiments. Following the visit, the students were encouraged to write a short paragraph
describing their visit to the Laboratory and their learnings from the visit.
LITTLE SCIENTISTS
The tiny tots of STARZ had their first experience with experiments as they tested the
concepts of sinking or floating through a variety of objects like bubbles, feathers, coins, leaf,
flowers, bottle caps, pencil etc. to see which among them floats and which sink. They
cheered each other as they performed the experiment and explored new avenues of
learning.
GET ON THE FLOOR
The school realizes the importance of directional skills through floor time. It aims to build
spatial awareness and help the children to learn the correct orientation of letters, words and
numbers on a page. The tiny tots of STARZ enhanced their learning through floor game like
snake and ladders in which they learnt about numbers by rolling the dice and learning
forward and backward counting. It was an enjoyable experience for them.
FOOD FIESTA
Learning from mistakes was the purpose behind organizing an Inter House Food Fiesta in
the school where students prepared a variety of dishes without fire. Students tried different
recipes, with different ingredients and prepared mocktails, cakes, bhelpuri, ladoos, pasta
etc.
The results are as follows:
1. position: Varnika Mttial (Class VIA ,Yamuna House) and Ananya Saxena (Class VII A,
Yamuna House)
2. position: Aanandita Bhartiya (Class VIII C, Ganga House) and Saniya Arora (Class VII B,
Yamuna House)
3. Position: Divanshi Goel (Class VII B, Cauvery House) and Vidita Kalra (Class VIA,
Ganga House)
SYMMETRY, PATTERNS AND TESSELLATION
Students of grade 5 showcased their understanding, knowledge and mathematical skill
through a hands-on activity. The students came up with innovative and out of the box ideas
to portray their understanding on patterns, symmetry and tessellations. The students
worked together and showed their creativity and understanding to put forward the concept
of these mathematical skills through unique and informative posters.
MERAKI
Soul, creativity and essence put into work
With the aim of honing the dancing skills of the students, an Inter-House Dance
Competition was also organised for the students of classes IV and V. The theme of the
competition was “Indian Classical Dances’ where the vivacious dancers set the floor on fire
with their energetic performances.
The Principal, Ms. Anita Sethi appreciated the children for their enthralling performances.
In the closely contested competition, Rizul of Cauvery House claimed 1st position, Anika of
Yamuna House and Jiyana from Cauvery House shared 2nd position and 3rd position was
shared between Ridhul of Satlej House and Divyachi Tyagi of Ganga House.
ASSEMBLY - OBEDIENCE
“The aim of education is knowledge, not of facts, but of values.”
The students of class 3 were actively engaged in learning about ‘Celebrations, Values and
Beliefs’ in their current PYP theme- Who we are. The students exhibited their
understanding of the topic in the morning assembly on ‘Obedience’. The students presented
a thought for the day, a story and meaning of various values. They also showcased their
acting talent through a skit in which they emphasized on celebrating festivals in eco-
friendly ways.
MEASURE AND MAKE
To enhance the student’s knowledge on perimeter and area, a classroom activity was
conducted in class 5 L for the students. For this activity students utilized various geometrical
shapes of different sizes and proportion to make a 3 D and 2 D model on different topics i.e.
My Dream land, My smart City Toy Land, Zoo etc. for better and practical understanding of
the concepts of perimeter, area and volume. After preparing the model, students
collectively measured the perimeter, area and the volume of their respective models and
presented their findings to their peers. This activity provided a practical hand on
knowledge in the day to day usage and significance of the various mathematical skills and
concepts that they learn in school.
IN SOMEONE ELSE’S SHOES
Role play is a very important teaching instrument as it is a great learning experience for the students to
showcase their potentials.
As the ongoing theme How We Organize Ourselves comes to an end, students’ Summative Assessment
was taken in the form of Role Play where class IV students dressed themselves as people from different
states and confidently presented their roleplay on Geographical features of India. The objective of the
roleplay was not only to blend learning with fun but also to develop confidence in the students. The
excitement of students knew no bounds as they waited eagerly for their turn to perform. Resplendent in their costumes and glowing in all their finery, they emulated the people from different states with
confidence and passion. The students highlighted the climate, people, food and rivers of different states
which gave a clear insight about the four physical division of India.
EXPLORE AND EXHIBIT OUR DWELLINGS
Now I know, what we dwell on is who we become
We believe in using varied mediums to assess the students. Gallery walk is one such
medium, where the students take charge of the reporting process and enhance their
learning and understanding through charts, models, role play, Map Skills etc. The students
of Grade 4 Daisy organized a Gallery Walk to showcase their understanding of the unit
under the trans-disciplinary theme How We Organize Ourselves. The objective of the
Gallery Walk was to exhibit the Geographical features of India and its four physical
divisions. Students were dressed state wise as they showcased the craft work, food and
culture of the selected places.
ISA ACTIVITY, RESEARCH ON DIFFERENT COUNTRIES
The present times are a witness to a lot of changes globally, especially on the education
front. Students are now exposed to numerous challenges and innovations as never before.
Students of grade VII to VIII were asked to collect the information about the various
countries from around the world. The students researched and gathered the information
with the help of peers, parents, teachers, extended family members and neighbours and
prepared Presentations, Write-Ups, Posters highlighting the similarities and differences
between the lifestyle, traditions, food, language, and customs etc. of different countries. The
children completed the project with great excitement and enthusiasm. The project led to
increase knowledge among students about various countries which helped the children
appreciate different cultures and traditions.
OFF TO SHAPE THE WORLD
The tiny tots of STARZ enjoyed some fun activities using shapes and made a picture scene
with various shaped objects while learning about shapes. The fun filled activity provided
our little ones a platform to develop and showcase their latent talents. Each child was given
different shapes to explore. Circles, squares, rectangles, oval and triangles were formed by
the highly enthusiastic and excited students. Children were engaged in creating beautiful
things like puppets, dolls, houses, sun, trees, etc. with the shapes displaying their creativity.
SKYPE SESSION WITH DUBAI STUDENTS
With the aim of creating an international platform for our students our school organized a
skype session for classes VI and VII where they interacted with the students of Web Minster
School, Dubai. In the session students from both the countries asked each other questions
related to school, education system, subjects etc. The students from both the countries also
sang their respective national anthems. The exchange was a new step towards a world with
no boundaries and a world full of peace, friendship and love for each other.
VISIT TO GURUDWARA
Educational visits allow students to gain knowledge from direct experiences. Taking
students on such visits, gives them the experience of travelling in a group and teaches them
to be respectful of the locations they visit. On the occasion of Gurupurab, the school
organized an educational visit for the students of STARZ and Class I to a Gurudwara in
Kavinagar. This was an attempt to make the students aware of the various festivals
celebrated in our country. They offered prayers in the Gurudwara and also had Kada
prasad.
ASSEMBLY ON CURIOSITY
Curiosity is one of the greatest secret of happiness!
Students of Class 5 lotus conducted a special assembly on the theme – Curiosity. It started
off with Sarvadharm Prarthana and English Prayer followed by vocabulary word -
“curiosity” and thought for the day. The assembly was conducted in French along with its
English translation. The latest news, a short poem, a moral story, a skit and a song were also
presented by the students. They were all dressed up in Halloween costumes in accordance
with Halloween celebrations. Children were explained the importance of Halloween, also
called Saint Daz which is an occasion to remember elders and is associated with honoring
the dead. Along with the significance of Halloween, they were also explained the
importance of Aids Day.
KNOW YOUR PLANET
Students of Class 2 actively participated in the investigating process of the theme
“Sharing the planet” in accordance with the Kath Murdoch’s inquiry cycle where they
gathered various things from the field as a part of their nature walk. As the Tuning In
activity they identified them as manmade and natural resources through a peer
discussion. As the Sorting out activity they gathered knowledge on renewable and non-
renewable natural resources through videos, books and internet and with some guidance
were able to sort them out correctly. Thus, they did justice to the first Line of Inquiry -
Identifying, locating and classifying renewable and non-renewable natural resources
following the first two steps of Kath Murdoch’s inquiry cycle.
QUIZ TIME
An Inter house general knowledge quiz was organized for grade I, II and III. The topics for
the quiz were - India, Current Affairs and Sports. The quiz was conducted in four rounds,
visual rounds, buzzer round, famous personalities and the finally timer round. The audience
supported and encouraged the participants as they performed their best.
BRIDGING THE GAP
The school aims to create an international platform for its students where they get a chance
to learn more about other countries, their culture and the Education System. The IBPYP
wing hosted a Skype session with Austria School - EBGJM Hollabrunn, Lower Austria,
Europe under the guidance of Ms. Gudrun Edlofer. Students of class V participated in the
educational and cultural exchange over a skype session with the partner school. The session
started with an introduction of both the schools and details about the activities being
undertaken. This was taken forward with a quiz, Kahoot on General Knowledge and
Mathematics. It was an interactive session where students got a chance for a global
educational exchange and witnessed Russia’s education system and culture in such close
proximity.
STARZ SPORTS DAY
Sports are an integral part of every student’s life at DPSGI. Starz Sports Day was a splendid
occasion for them to showcase their speed and agility on the field.
The tiny tots of Starz participated in a 50m Dash race followed by a huddle race. The
students also participated in various fun races like bucket race where students had to pick
different objects kept on the track, fill their buckets and reach to the finishing point.
Students enjoyed another fun race to develop team building spirits in which they were
paired with a partner and run while carrying a ring.
FRENCH WORKSHOP
Ms. Suman Bhardwaj attended a workshop at the Embassy of France in India, which was
conducted in collaboration with the Alliance Française network & Langers International.
The theme of the workshop was Apprendre à apprendre where the participants engaged
activities that enhanced teaching methods in the class. The workshop was held at India
International Centre, New Delhi.
ICT WORKSHOP
Mr. Rajeev Kumar and Ms. Payal Goel attended an ICT conference organized by Naples
India Publishers which focused on various 21st century classroom aspects. Tools of MS One
Note and gaming tools were also discussed briefly.
KRISHAN – KRISHANA - ek gaatha naari samman ki
As a part of the 9th Annual Function the students of classes VI – IX and XI presented
“Krishan – Krishana” a poignant tale of women empowerment through the timeless epic
Mahabharata and its central character Draupadi.
Dr. Manju Shivach, MLA Modinagar graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Mr. Om
Pathak Chairman DPSG Society presided over the function along with Mrs. Niharika
Pathak first lady and member DPSG Society. Mr. Anshul Pathak Vice Chairman DPSG
Society and Chairman DPSG International and Mr. Rohit Pathak Director HR DPSG
Society also added grace to the occasion with their presence. Mr. R.K. Sharma Director
Administration and Secretary DPSG Society was also present on the occasion.
The presentation began with an inspirational song presented by the school choir followed
by an invocation dance. The stage then came alive with the enthralling musical dance
drama “Krishan – Krishana” as the students unfolded the saga of Draupadi through
theatrics and dances.
Dr. Shivach appreciated the efforts of the students and urged them to imbibe values from
our ancient texts. The presentation was also praised by Mr. Om Pathak and all guests.
