- Mahatma Gandhi

Dear Parents,

We are now in the midstream of this academic year making our presence with our Online-

learning portal. Our journey so far has been both challenging and exciting. The first term

Parent Teacher Meeting was yet another milestone and was a great triumph. We are

tremendously rejoiced to receive all affirmative responses for our persevering efforts that

always boost our confidence in a way forward. Our kids got their rhythm down and are

beginning to pick up some momentum. They have been building friendships with one

another, as well as learning about gratitude and practicing kindness!

The month of October is also going to be an exciting one as we will continue the theme of

“ANIMAL KINGDOM”. Children will open the doors to imagination, creativity and evoke

curiosity about animals. They will continue to learn about animal kingdom and categorize

them into domestic, wild and aquatic animals and how they live in perfect harmony with

their surroundings.

Mahatma Gandhi, also known as the ‘Father of the Nation’, whose ideologies and kindness

drove India to regain its independence. October 2nd, marks birth anniversary of Mahatma

Gandhi, the world observes this occasion as ‘Gandhi Jayanti’ and is regarded as one of the

national holidays. People revisit his ideas, ideologies and feel the importance of patriotism

within their veins. This month also brings with it the time for celebration, as one of India’s

popular festival, the Durga Puja of Dussehra’s celebrations is quite vibrant in the country.

These celebrations not only bring joy and happiness but also give us an opportunity to

inculcate the traditional values in our young learners which will help them to have a more

grounded approach towards life. Halloween is a very special day for kids celebrated on 31st

October as they get to wear spooking costumes of their favourite character. In addition to this,

they go trick or treating in their neighbourhood to collect sweets and candies. Let’s celebrate

together the joyous month of October.

To conclude, we encourage you to stay involved with our students as they take strides in their

learning process by encouraging them to think and express their thoughts, we thank you for

helping us accomplish our goals. We wish the festivities strengthen family ties with endearing

memories to cherish.

With Regards,

CURRICULUM FOR THE MONTH

Parental tips

“What makes a great parent isn’t only defined by the parent’s action, but also

their intention.”

A good parent doesn’t have to be perfect. Successful Parenting is not about achieving

perfection. But it doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t work towards that goal. Set high

standards for ourselves first and then our children second. We serve as role models for

them.

Encouragement and Motivation

By being a part of their virtual classes, parents can encourage and motivate their children

to display good etiquettes and discipline to their teachers. In case your child doesn’t

understand something in the online class or is hesitant to raise a question during the

course, he or she may take your help to have a clear understanding of the concept. You

can also motivate them to ask their doubts during the class. Your presence will give your

child the confidence to be attentive in the study.

Dedicate a Table

A dedicated place to sit and study will help children to improve their concentration and

focus on teaching. It also gives them their own space for education and learning. Parents

can also ensure this space is visible for them to keep a check in case their children need

any help.

Talk with your child and help their brains

Most of us already know the importance of communication. Talk to your child and also

listen to them carefully. By keeping an open line of communication, you’ll have a better

relationship with your child and your child will come to you when there’s a problem.

Strive for empathy

If you can understand the reason behind the misbehavior, it will be so much easier to find

empathy for your child and respond with kindness. If you can't figure out the reason, just

know that there is one. Your child loves you more than anything and wants to please you,

so there is a reason if they are acting out.

CELEBRATION TIME

Gandhi Jayanti: Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated to commemorate the birth of Mahatma Gandhi.

He not only contributed to Indian freedom struggle, but he also fought

to bring changes into the society. He fought against the pre-existing

Indian caste system and fought to establish equality and

brotherhood in the society. His beliefs and principles motivate the

masses, and his quotes inspire youth even today. His idea of non-

violence has taught everyone that even in a gentle way, one can

shake the world. In his honor, the

United Nations General Assembly on

June 15, 2007, announced October 2nd as International Day of Non-

Violence. Children, being the face of tomorrow, can gain so much

from his life-stories, values and struggles. To pay respect to our

father of nation, children can make Gandhi chashma using rolled

newspaper, glue, colour pencils and can share the picture to their

respective class teacher’s e-mail ID before 10th October.

Dussehra:Dussehra is a Hindu festival that is also known as Vijayadashami that celebrates the

victory of good over evil, which marks the culmination of a 9 day period of Festivities

called Navratri, with Dussehra being the 10th. This festival also marks

the victory of Ram, one of the Avatar of Vishnu, over the Killing of the

10 headed Ravana, in the great Indian epic of Ramayana. It is also the

beginning of the harvest season in India and so people invoke the

Mother Goddess to watch over the new harvest season and rejuvenate

the fertility of the soil. This festival is celebrated in all regions of India,

but different communities choose to observe it in different ways. For

Dussehra activity children can dress up in ethnic attire and share the

picture to their respective class teacher’s e-mail ID before 20th October.
