    Definition of APOSTASY

1: renunciation of a religious faith

2: abandonment of a previous loyalty : defection

To defect...to abandon, and renounce the faith.

It is different than heresy, Apostasy can be contagious and when one defects from the faith, you usually find others doing the same thing.

It may start with a simple seperation from like minded people. Simple enough, but silently deadly for it is true that when you pull one hot ember from the fire, it begins to cool off...growing colder. To push that same ember back into theheat of the fire will cause it to catch up again....glowing and burning hot.

To actually PUT OUT the fire, all we need to do is seperate the burning embersand wait. They will each grow cold.

(in the same way a house divided can not stand....neither will the Christiian continue to burn hot for the faith when he or she is seperated from the congregation of believer's who burn hot for the LORD Jesus.

Heresy on the other hand is not likely to cause one to grow cold, but to cause one to be burning brightly in the wrong place, like the forest fire out of control. A fire is nice when controlled and confined to the right place. But a fireburning out of bounds can destroy faster than the cold embers of the scattered fire.

Heresy is a belief in wrong doctrine and teaching it to others.

Apostasy is to renoue the faith.

    Both are deadly.

The act of apostasy is called apostizing...or to apostize...which would be actually causing others to depart from the faith.

You may have been offended and hurt, you may have good reason to feel betrayedand upset, but be warned brothers and sisters, God is not mocked!

"For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning." (2 Peter 2:20)
