Deep Cycle AGMTrojan’s deep-cycle absorbed glass mat (AGM) maintenance-free batteries for renewable energy applications feature a number of design elements to provide optimum performance. Robust plates extend the life-cycle of Trojan’s deep-cycle AGM batteries. A separator of glass fibers serves to isolate the positive and negative plates while acting as a blotter to absorb the electrolyte. The separator is maintained under compression between plates to assure contact with plate surfaces. A computer-generated grid design is optimized for high-power density. Low calcium grid alloy reduces gas emissions and a flame arresting, one-way pressure relief vent prevents buildup of excessive pressure. Trojan’s deep-cycle AGM batteries are low temperature tolerant, shock and vibration resistant and have a low internal resistance for higher discharge current and higher charging efficiency.

EXPECTED LIFE VS. TEMPERATUREChemical reactions internal to the battery are driven by voltage and temperature. The higher the battery temperature, the faster chemical reactions will occur. While higher temperatures can provide improved discharge performance the increased rate of chemical reactions will result in a corresponding loss of battery life. As a rule of thumb, for every 10°C increase in temperature the reaction rate doubles. Thus, a month of operation at 35°C is equivalent in battery life to two months at 25°C. Heat is an enemy of all lead acid batteries, FLA, GEL, and AGM alike and even small increases in temperature will have a major influence on battery life.

When purchasing a golf cart you will notice that these little vehicles run off of a battery. When looking for the right battery to invest in for your unit you will need to take a few things into consideration. When checking out the compartment size of your golf cart, take note of the dimensions as this will often offer you the choice between more than just one type of battery (one battery just might be a more powerful than the other) – if the unit fits your machine compartment, chances are that it will work just fine. If you aren’t sure, remember to chat to the professional sales consultants who will be able to provide you with product information and some practical advice. If you are new to purchasing or replacing batteries for golf carts then some help along the way will certainly be needed. If you are replacing an old battery, consider how the previous one worked for you. Did it supply sufficient power? Or do you need something a little more powerful? Shop around for a battery of the same size; with more power supply if you feel that your golf cart wasn’t effectively pulling its weight. You can upgrade or downgrade your battery according to your needs and the performance that you have experienced. Remember golf carts have to travel quite hilly terrain so ensure that yours will not lose power on the way!
