The definition of Advent The word “advent” (the arrival of an important person or thing) is

derived from the Latin word “adventus,” which means

“coming.” For Catholics, Advent is the four-week season leading up to Christmas. During Advent we anticipate the coming of Jesus.

It’s a time full of reflection, excitement, and hope.

During this second week of Advent, we reflect on our lives and work on

becoming better-versions-of-ourselves in preparation for Jesus’

coming.

Construction News

Construction was limited during Thanksgiving week. We are still repointing the bricks on the East side with a lot of attention and care making sure the mortar does

not freeze during these cold nights. A lot of stone pediments have been removed and reset on the East gable.

We have seven logo etched slates available for $40 each. Please call the office as they are first come, first serve. These make great last minute Christmas gifts!

Be sure to check the website to see the latest construction photos.

Parish News

NATIONAL NIGHT OF PRAYER AT ST. ANDREW’S: This year, the National Night of Prayer for Life takes place from 8:30pm on Sunday, December 8 to 1:00am on Monday, December 9. The National Night of Prayer for Life is a pro-life prayer service consisting of exposition and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament,

20 decades of the Rosary, prayer to St. Michael, silent prayer and hymns. The purpose is to unite our prayers with Catholics throughout the country in an effort to help bring back the world to Christ and to bring about an end to abortion. The hours are chosen to coincide with Our Lady of Guadalupe’s appearance to Juan Diego.

ROSARY GROUP AND IMMACULATE CONCEPTION: The Rosary and Divine Mercy Group will have materials in the Commons from December 7—9 to help us draw closer to Jesus through his Mother, the Immaculate Conception. In addition to Miraculous Medals, Rosaries and Marian documents being available, a parishioner has donated water from Lourdes, with which to bless yourself. You are invited to join us in prayer on Saturday mornings.

FATHER LOUIE’S 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF HIS ORDINATION TO THE PRIESTHOOD will be celebrated at St. Andrew’s after the 9:00am Mass on Sunday, December 15. Please join us in the Social Hall to celebrate with Father Louie!

VOLUNTEER TO LIGHT THE ADVENT WREATH! If your family would like to take a turn lighting the wreath, please call the Parish office to sign-up for a Mass.

THE CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS CHOIR will sing before the 4:00pm Mass on Christmas Eve. We ask that each family prepare the three songs at home. Music may be picked up in the Social Hall following the Advent weekend Masses. The “choir” will meet Christmas Eve at 3:00pm in the Music Room to run through the pieces before we sing them for the parish at 3:55pm. Come be a part of this wonderful tradition!
