Chapter President’s Message
W elcome to the new year and a great one it’s going to be. Braxton Bragg
Chapter’s New Operational year started on July 1.
This is the first of the messages I will use to communicate what’s important for
you and for our association in the future. While we will look back to remind you
where we’ve been, I want to also take you to where we need to go to ensure that
the absolute best things are being done here and with our national leadership.
Looking back over the last 12 months is exciting because an awful lot was done.
Some of it is transparent and some of it behind the scenes, so to speak. At the
national level, AUSA continues to be your voice on Capital Hill in the areas of
pay, health care, housing and family initiatives.
On a local and more personal level, Braxton Bragg Chapter has supported Graduation at the NCO Academy,
Soldier and Noncommissioned Officer of the Year Awards, Scholarships to AUSA Members and their Family
Members, The Family of the Year Award, The Fort Bragg DA Civilian of the Year and many other initiatives.
All of these contribute to the respect we receive when viewed by the community and other chapters. This is not
unimportant because we want to be recognized for the many good things we do as a Chapter in the support we
provide our members: Active, Reserve, National Guard, Retired, Veterans and corporate.
I want to thank the members of the Board of Directors who are volunteers, for their continued service to our
Chapter. I also want to than the Commanders and Command Sergeants Majors of the units represented by our
Chapter—Without their support our task would be really difficult.
I also want to thank our corporate members because without their assistance and loyalty we could not provide
many of the services we now enjoy.
Coming up in the near future we have a Golf Tournament on September 29, 2017. The AUSA Annual Meeting
is October 9 to 11, 2017, and the Cumberland Country Veterans Day Parade on November 4, 2017.
Sincerely,
Andrew McFowler

Caroline Beasley Chosen Radio Ink Executive Of The Year It’s been quite a year for Beasley Media Group and acting CEO Caroline Beasley. She’s been interim CEO since March, following George Beasley’s medical leave of absence. As of January 1, the interim tag comes off and Caroline Beasley will be the company’s permanent Chief Executive Officer. She also worked the blockbuster $240 million deal to purchase Greater Media’s 21 stations in seven markets, growing the company by 40% overnight. She then turned around and divested four stations in Charlotte to David Field’s Entercom for $24 million. Caroline Beasley grew up in a radio family and being in the business is all she ever wanted to do from the days she was answering phones and working on those manual logs with her mom. She rose through the ranks on the business side of radio. Caroline Beasley has served as the company’s Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer, and Secretary since 1994 and as a Director since 1983. She has also been the Business Manager, Assistant Controller, and Corporate Controller. On January 1, she will be the CEO of one of radio’s largest companies and on January 16 she will be on the cover of Radio
Ink magazine as the 2016 Radio Ink Radio Executive of The Year.

Dear AUSA Members and Friends,
The AUSA Annual Meeting, October 9 – 12 2017, is one of the largest defense expositions and professional forums in the world. Last year over 26,000 people, including seniors leaders from the Army, DoD, DHS, and Congress partici-pated in this three-day event, more than 4,000 of which were active duty military personnel. In addition, there were senior leaders from the Department of Defense, members of Congress, Congressional staffers, and Senior Executive Service personnel. We had over 1,400 International attendees, and military representatives from over 50 countries.
This year’s event will once again occupy the entire Walter E. Washington Convention Center, including all five exhibit halls located on the upper and lower levels. There will be over 500 exhibitors from around the world featuring the latest state-of-the-art equipment, products and services for our Army.
The Braxton Bragg Chanter will host our Hooah Tent at the Army 10 Miler, 8 Oct and will host our “Carolina Night” reception at the Convention Center (Room Location TBA) 10 Oct starting at 5:30 PM. These two events are a great time to meet current Chapter members and catch up with former Fort Bragg Team Mates.
We hope that while you are in Washington, DC you will have an opportunity to see some of the many historical land-marks, monuments, and museums that make our city one of the top destinations in the country. Please visit the Des-tination DC website at http://washington.org for information on local venues and places of interest in the Nation’s Capital.
