Current Status on Land Acquisition

• Land Acquisition is being done as per Railway Amendment Act, 2008. Compensation is guided by the Principles enshrined in National Rehabilitation and Re-settlement Policy (NRRP), 2007

• Land Acquisition is required for 10840 hectares• So far, 5004 hectares acquired i.e. 50% of the total

requirement• Entire DFC land acquisition is likely to be completed

by June 2012

Current Status on Eastern Corridor

With World Bank Funding• Phase –I

Appraisal of Kanpur – Khurja about 350 Kms. completed and loan approved by World Bank on 31/05/2011 Work likely to start by April 2012.

• Phase – IIKhurja – Ludhiana and Kanpur - Mughalsarai appraisal by March 2012. Work likely to start by March 2013

With Railway Funding• Work in progress on 122 Kms. Sonnagar – Mughalsarai• Commissioning Target – December 2014

Current Status on WESTERN DFC

Construction of 54 bridges started in Jan’ 2009 between ST & BSR with Railway Equity

Phase-I (RE-BRC) loan agreement signed on 31.3.2010General Consultant appointed for Phase-I on 12.05.2010Engineering Services loan for Phase-II (Dadri-RE & BRC-JNPT)

signed on 31.3.201080% of construction cost to be funded by Japan9000 HP locos also to be imported under JICA Loan.

Uniqueness of the project

• The project passes through 9 states and 60 districts covering 3,300 Kms.

• It passes through 2500 villages and has over 85000 Projected Affected Persons

• The relief and rehabilitation provides for new measures such as solatium, special benefits for marginal and small farmers etc. as per NRRP-2007

• Construction through lumpsum Design & Build contracts having EPC contracting features tailored to Railway needs.

• Document preparation for contracting being done through internationally reputed General Consultants.

• International bidding of contracts of high networth eligibility criteria

• Contracts of very high value of the range of 4000-5000 crores.

Setting up of Logistics Park on DFC

RITES report suggested seven logistic parks.Western Corridor - Rewari, Ahmedabad, Vapi,

Navi MumbaiEastern Corridor - Kanpur, Ludhiana &

DurgapurThe logistics park operation will be done through PPP

model.Logistics Park to be multimodal operating on hub and

spoke principle leveraging higher speeds & long leads achievable on DFCC.
