W elcome to the Spring/Summer season at Déda. Once again we have lots of

performances for you to enjoy from manydifferent artists that will both entertain and delight.

One of the main challenges we face, along withthe other venues of Derby, is attracting audiencesthrough our door. We are convinced that what we have to offer within the city is fantastic butour problem is how we get that message acrossto the public. Derby Festé had an estimatedaudience of 25,000 people watching the eventsover three days in September. The trick now is toget that audience into the venues and supportingthe city’s creative economy. So if you enjoycoming to Déda please help to spread the word!

The season kicks off with the return of Rosie Kaywith her new show Supernova. Those of you whosaw The Wild Party last year will want to see whatRosie has produced next. I am sure you will not bedisappointed by this explosive journey thatbrilliantly fuses street moves and classical music.

Keeping with the Catalonian theme from DerbyFesté, Derby LIVE and Déda are co-promotingCirco de la Sombra at the Assembly Rooms in

Welcome…

April. This is truly an international affair withacrobats from all over Europe, so if you enjoyedthe spectacle of Festé you will not want to missthis. Several venues within the region have gottogether to make this tour possible so hopefullyin the future we will be able to bring even morewonderful international performances to the city.

Dance4 is a national dance agency based inNottingham and in partnership with Déda theyproduce an annual platform entitled QUAKE, ashowcase for emerging artists from all over theUK. This event is about pushing boundaries but itis also about celebrating new work that is oftenmade but rarely seen, so this is your chance towitness something new in the East Midlands.

There are many shows to see, but if you are justcraving a coffee or a bite to eat then please dropin to the CUBE and enjoy the fantastic food andart you will find there.

Triple BillPresented by Claire Cunningham, JoseAgudo, Katie Green and T.r.a.s.h.

PORK by T.r.a.s.h. (film)

4m2 by Claire Cunningham and Jose Agudo

Caught Up by Katie Green

PORK is a short film adaptation of the stageproduction Pork-in-Loop by Dutch dancetheatre company T.r.a.s.h. PORK offers adisturbing keyhole view on ambiguous, explosive characters, struck by a loss ofmemory, meaning and the ability to react.

4m2 is the first collaboration between ClaireCunningham and Jose Agudo. As artists inresidence at Déda the piece was created insummer 2008.

Set against a stunning backdrop by visual artistSian Stammers and an original score composedby Scanner, the piece explores the periphery ofmemory inspired by real stories. These arememories of isolation as a means to freedom.

Caught Up is the new work from award-winningKatie Green. Choreographed by Katie, with anoriginal sound score by Chris Cousin, it is atypically sensitive exploration of the way humanscommunicate, as three individuals playfully testtheir limits to learn from and support each other.

A pre-show supper will be available on this night– see page 20.
