Welcome to the Autumn season 2012 atDéda.
By the end of September, London 2012 and theCultural Olympiad will be over and what ajourney it has been. Derby has greatly benefitedfrom the additional funding made availableover the last four years with investment madeinto events such as Derby Festé, which is now a cultural highlight in the city’s calendar.
Derby Festé 2012 and the presentation of itsfinale Games Time will mark the close of theCultural Olympiad in the East Midlands, whichopened at Festé in 2008. We’re delighted thatthe celebrations will be coming full circle inDerby. Games Time is a spectacular live outdoorstage show produced by Déda|Producing, combining music, video, fireworks, professionaldancers and over 100 members of the localcommunity – not to be missed.
Our partnership with Derby Theatre continueswith the showing of the fantastic God’s Gardenby Arthur Pita. The show tells a captivatingrustic tale of a Portuguese family which takes
the audience on a journey that will stay with them for a long time to come.
Other highlights being presented at Dédainclude the young choreographer AakashOdedra who will be presenting four solosincluding work by Akram Khan and RussellMaliphant. Aakash truly represents the nextgeneration of the UK’s finest dance artists.
Déda offers the best facilities and teachersfor dance classes in the city, so why notmake the most of it and get dancing? Weoffer classes for all ages from Tap to Ballet,Yoga to Tango – so whatever you are into we can accommodate it with style.
As Olympic fever passes Déda will help youkeep active as well as entertained through its unique programme of arts for the city.

Justine NettletonDéda Gallery
Justine Nettleton’s latest artwork is inspiredby young dancers at Déda. She spent time in a dance class recording the energy, enthusiasm and dedication dancers put intotheir art form.
‘I wanted to capture the moment when you are so joyfully immersed in your creativeexpression that you forget the world aroundyou and feel suspended in a magical, timelessspace. The paintings weave together abstractpatterns, colours and textures with thedancing figures in order to represent thatmoment.’
Each painting begins as an improvisationwith colour. The figures emerge slowly.
