• Helps student teachers understand how the theories of development work together with the educational system & policies in the education of the student
• Prepares student teachers to see themselves as educators & to understand that education is a journey in itself

At the end of this course, student teachers will be able to:
1. Synthesize the key concepts of developmental, motivation and learning theories
2. Apply the relevant key concepts to analyze issues in authentic classroom settings
3. Propose practical solutions informed by relevant key concepts to classroom issues

Course Assessments
Late submission will NOT be entertained unless accompanied by Medical Certificate or approved leave from the Office of Teacher Education.
5 points will be deducted for each day of late submission.
1. Class Participation – 10%
2. Group Project – Problem-Based Learning Presentation – 30%
3. Individual Readiness Assessment Test - 10%
4. Individual Assignment – 50%

2. Be careful of plagiarism. Always cite the source whenever you quote or paraphrase another author’s work. Plagiarism is taken very seriously and can lead to failure and/or termination of candidature in the PGDE program
3. Punctuality and Attendance
Punctuality and 100% attendance is expected unless supported by official or medical leave
Where possible, please inform your tutors beforehand if you are unwell or are unable to attend class
Submit copies of your medical certificates to your tutor as soon as you return to NIE

Transfers between Tutorial Groups
Requests for transfers will only be approved under the following cases:
Student teachers transfer to another group of the SAME course due to clash of timetable
Student teachers need to take certain courses to graduate (final semester) but there is a clash of timetable.
