With the introduction of Washer Disinfectors there can be some confusion as to whether they’re needed or not. NON-VACUUMAUTOCLAVES

O ur experience in Scotland has proven Non Vacuum autoclaves as being the preferred choice of autoclave by general dental practices, certainly by those carrying our minimal invasive

procedures. “Non Vacs” are completely acceptable and compliant so long as they have passed approval testing from National Procurement (NP143/13).

Non Vacuum autoclaves benefit from quicker cycle times, and less expensive ongoing service & re-validation costs. They do not however offer the same standard of drying of instruments as a vacuum autoclave.

Newer, larger chamber autoclaves are more suitable and certainly becoming more popular. This is due to the increase in number of instruments, often loaded in cassettes “commonly known as clip trays” waiting sterilisation immediately after the Washer Disinfector process.

Our autoclaves are minimum 6L chamber capacity, ranging to 22L compared to that of traditional 11L chambers and so offer far greater efficiencies. l
