Dear St. Anthony Claret Parishioners,

I would like to take this opportunity to say, “Thank You” to everyone for your love, support, guidance, and prayers to me these past three years. It has been a great honor and joy to be your priest here at St. Anthony Claret Church. I remember when I first arrived at St. Anthony Claret how nervous I was because I didn’t know what to expect. I remember how shy and non-talkative I was. Thanks to your kindness and your encouragement, I broke out of my shyness shell and made some great friends. I really enjoy getting to know many of you on a personal level, talking, laughing, and sharing life stories. I have been blessed to have been a part of your lives. It has been truly an incredible journey, learning and growing together in our love of God and of our Catholic faith.

I ask for your continual prayers for me as I begin my new ministry at Our Lady Queen of Angels Church in Newport Beach. I wil l keep all of you in my heart and prayers.

A sido una gran alegría y un honor haber sido su sacerdote aquí en la parroquia de San Antonio Claret. Recuerdo los nervios que tenia cuando recién llegue a San Antonio Claret porque no sabia que me iba a esperar. Recuerdo lo tímido y callado que era. Gracias a su amabilidad y aliento, salí de mi timidez e hice algunos grandes amigos. Realmente disfruto conocer a muchos de ustedes a nivel personal, platicando, riendo y compartiendo historias de la vida. He sido bendecido al haber sido parte de sus vidas. A sido verdaderamente una jornada increíble, aprendiendo y creciendo juntos en nuestro amor a Dios y nuestra fe católica. Les pido sus continuas oraciones ahora que comienzo mi nuevo ministerio en Nuestra Señora Reina de los Ángeles en Newport Beach. Los mantendré a todos en mi corazón y en mis oraciones.

Remembering on Pentecost Sunday, the birth of the Church and receiving the Mission to Evangelize. Like Father Thomas, the time has come for me to leave. As of July 1st, I am assigned in a new parish, St. Pius V in Buena Park. Continue to support your Pastor, Father Bill Cao, and the new priests to come: Father Bill Barman and Father Benjamin Tran. Continue to care for the devotion to the Holy Eucharist and build a solid Family in human and Christian values day by day. May Our Lady of Guadalupe take care of you. LITURGY | LITURGIA P. 3

RADICAL TRANSFORMATION On this Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, the readings describe anything but an ordinary time. They are disturbing and they leave us disturbed. The Old Testament reading recounts a young man’s radical break with the past to follow a new path. The Gospel describes how life as we know it is abruptly changed if we follow the call of Christ. The psalm and Paul assure us that such life-altering change is possible only because of the power of God’s love. We are presented with a stark choice. To love as God loves, we must leave our old lives behind. We must leave behind not just the bad, the selfish, and the evil but the ordinary, our daily work, and the important, our families, our lives. Loving as God loves requires a radical transformation, not a smooth transition.

TRANSFORMACIÓN RADICAL En este Trigésimo Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario, las lecturas describen todo menos un tiempo ordinario. Son inquietantes y nos dejan preocupados. La lectura del Antiguo Testamento cuenta acerca de un joven que rompió radicalmente con el pasado para seguir un nuevo

camino. El Evangelio describe cómo repentina-mente cambia la vida que conocemos si seguimos la llamada de Cristo. El Salmo y Pablo nos aseguran que ese cambio de vida es posible solo a causa del poder del amor de Dios. Se nos presenta

una dura elección. Para amar como Dios ama, debemos dejar atrás a nuestras vidas antiguas. Debemos dejar atrás no solo lo malo, el egoísmo y el mal sino lo ordinario, nuestro trabajo diario y lo importante, nuestras familias, nuestras vidas. Amar con Dios ama requiere una transformación radical, no una transición tranquila.

Los Ministros Extraordinarios de la Sagrada Comunión ayudan en la distribución de la Eucaristía durante las misas diarias y de fin de semana. El convertirse en Ministro Extraordinario de la Sagrada Comunión le permite vivir el llamado de su Bautismo a servir. Este Ministerio requiere que la persona esté viviendo en estado de gracia y haber recibido los sacramentos del Bautismo, Confirmación, Primera Comunión.

If you are 18 years of age or older and have not received the one or more of the Sacraments of Baptism, First Holy Communion and/or Confirmation, registrations will take place in the parish office Monday - Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Classes begin in September. For more information, please stop by the parish office during office hours for required documents and applications. You must register before Friday, August 30th.

The parish office and room facilities will be closed on Thursday and Friday, July 4th and July 5th in observance of the Independence Day Holiday. There will be one English Mass on 7-4-19 at 8:30am. On Friday will be regular

Mass schedule.
