He brings ten years of solar project experience including residential, commercial, and small utility-scale projects to his work, including an off-grid residential-sized home. Construction Cost Estimating Ha Yeung (Henry) Yu, P.E., LEED Green Associate, CTS is a senior cost engineer at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. He is a licensed professional engineer, a LEED green associate and a certified technology specialist who has extensive experience in planning and managing diverse domain construction projects ranging from medium to large-scale industries, which gives him an in- depth understanding of engineering design and construction management. Mr. Yu’s areas of expertise includes heavy civil construction, cost estimating, value engineering, project scheduling, feasibility studies, and risk analysis, including identification of cost and schedule impacts. Retaining Walls and Slope Stabilization Bill Simpson, PE is a geotechnical structure design specialist at Engineered Earth Solutions. He designs and reviews shop drawings for construction and repair of earth structures in the public and private sectors in over 30 states, and he consistently works on more than 1,200 projects and 10 million square feet each year. Mr. Simpson manages, supervises, instructs, and mentors a team of staff engineers to ensure strict deadlines are met for construction schedules while ensuring design and analysis accuracy. He works with owners, site designers, and contractors to provide designs which are not only structurally sufficient but also financially responsible. Mr. Simpson earned his B.S.C.E. and M.S.C.E. degrees from Georgia Institute of Technology. International Energy Conservation Code Michael L. Savage, Sr., MCP, CBO, CFPS, CEI-M is the chief building official for the city of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, and has been in the inspection field for more than 20 years. He has experience as a plans examiner, a combination inspector, a senior and chief inspector and chief building official. Mr. Savage has completed plan reviews and inspections on all types of structures from single family dwellings, decks and sheds, to micro-breweries and manufacturing/industrial facilities. Since becoming involved in the industry he has wrien and presented several seminars on various types of subjects from changes to the National Electric Code, to the National Fuel Gas Code, common building violations, and the first seminar on the Eastern Shore of Maryland on the International Mechanical Code. Seismic Design and Construction Jon F. Sfura, Ph.D., P.E., S.E. is a senior associate at Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. in Northbrook, Illinois. His experience includes the assessment of structural distress and serviceability problems, investigation of structural failures, and rehabilitation of structures. He has published and lectured on seismic design and performance, the assessment of structures, structural failures, and the rehabilitation of structures. Dr. Sfura received his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois. Certificates of completion will be provided for each webinar attended and will be sent via email in PDF form about five business days after the conclusion of the series.Webinars are presented via GoToWebinar, an easy-to-use application that can be run on most systems and tablets.
