HEAD CO-CURRICULAR, AND THE HOUSEMISTRESSES AT THE NEHRU HOUSE BIENNIAL FUNCTION
THE NEHRU HOUSE BIENNIAL FUNCTION
The Nehru House Biennial Function was held on Friday,
27th December 2019. Dr Bharat Agrawal, MBBS, MD,
MBA, M. PHIL graced the occasion with his presence.
The function started with a Kathak dance performance by
Ananta Jain (S4 F) and Lavanya Vadehra (S4 A) followed
by a melodious fusion of music by the School orchestra.
Students of classes S1, S2, S3 and S4 presented the Hindi
Ballet- ‘Kabuliwala’ based on a famous story by
Rabindranath Tagore.
Richa Jaipuria (S6 D) beautifully sang the popular song
from the movie Titanic, ‘My Heart will go on’. Samarth
Khanna (S6 G), Vedika Kapoor (S6 G), Ananya Kadambri
Khanna (S6 G) and Kunal Govil (S6 E) played pivotal
roles in the musical ‘Aladdin’.
The members of the Nehru House concluded the House
Function by presenting the School song ‘Balvan Bano’.
The Chief Guest praised and congratulated the students on
their excellent performance.
The Principal, Dr Vijay Datta, appreciated the members of
the Nehru House for a stellar House Function and
encouraged each member of the House in their pursuit of
excellence.

The morning of 24th December 2019, brought
with it gaiety and yuletide spirit as the front
lawns of Modern School witnessed Christmas
celebration with grandeur.
The celebration commenced with the holy
prayer and lighting of the candles in the
manger by the Principal Dr Vijay Datta,
Headmistress, Middle Wing, Ms Meera
Malhotra and Head Co-curricular Ms
Manpreet Kaur. The students sang carols and
songs such as 'Joy to the World’, ‘We wish you
a Merry Christmas’, ‘Deck the Halls’, ‘Rudolf
the red nose reindeer’, ‘Santa Claus is coming
to town’ etc, which enthralled everyone in the
melodies of rapture and festive spirit.

The dancers enthused the atmosphere with ecstasy as they danced on
mellifluous tunes of 'Big time rush', 'We wish you a Merry Christmas', and 'Last
Christmas'. The Principal, Dr Vijay Datta, expressed his delight on seeing the
enthusiasm in the children who brought the spirit of Christmas alive.
He congratulated all the participants for putting up a great show and raising the bar in organising
the Christmas assembly meticulously. The Christmas celebration culminated with the 'cake-cutting
ceremony’ and an official photograph with Middle School students and teachers. The teachers who
organized the assembly are Ms Shalini Dahiya, Ms Himani Bakshi, Mr Arindam and Mr Vikram
Sharma who were also thanked and appreciated.

A talk for students of class S4 was organized by the ‘Society for the Advancement of Occupational
and Environmental Health’ on Tuesday, 24th December 2019. Dr T. K. Joshi, Director,
Occupational and Environmental Program, interacted with the students and made them aware of
the environmental issues and bio-medical waste management. The training session was organized
in the Senior Biology Laboratory under the guidance of Ms Richa Bhatia, Head of the Department,
Biology.

bags, made by the students of the Nature Club, to the teachers and parents. ‘E- Waste
Collection Drive’ was organized on the same day to recover electronic waste. Students
were engaged in assembling their own Solar Lamp Kits showcasing their initiative
towards a sustainable future. Aman Jain (S6 F), Shivang Soni (S6 I), Yanav Lall (S5
C) and Roham Bhasin (S5 C) started a project ‘The Blue Vision Initiative’ which
aimed to solve the rising problem of water shortage. Under this project his team
installed fifty water saving aerators in the school campus leading to less utilization of
water. The aerators were distributed to the teachers and parents as well. Students
created a miniature theme garden in the laboratory with the use of plastic bottles and
materials which were discarded, displaying the use of 3R’s – Reuse, Recycle and
Reduce. The Principal Dr Vijay Datta, visited the exhibition and congratulated the
students for their achievements and encouraged them to achieve greater heights.
