Jamies Optimist Notepad Thanks to all of you who attended the November 18th meeting to hear our District representative for Personal Growth Involvement (PGI), Marie Durflinger on how to personally get what you want from the Optimist ex-perience. PGI passports to track your progress are now available through Wayne Switzer, our committee chairman for PGI. Our Wine Tasting fundraiser, chaired/hosted by Diana Needham, was a great success thanks to our sponsors and everyone who attended. James Kang is moving along with the Essaycontest. Please let James know if you can lend a hand. December: The Needy Families program is already under way for the December distribution. Food and gifts gathered will be sorted at and distributed from the former Hollywood Video store, located on the northwest corner of Artesia Boulevard and Bloomfield Avenue in Cerritos, by Optimists, Soroptimists and Octagon Club mem-bers. Please do your part by volunteering for at least one of the activities! The Christmas party on December 16th at the Cerritos Library will be hosted again this year by Ellen Latino. Ellen informed me that she has al-ready been in touch with Santa and he told her that he will be putting in an appearance at the party! The Lights on the Boats parade hosted by yours truly will be on Sunday, December 19th. January: This year we are hoping to raise $2100.00 to sponsor the new ABC School District Science Olympics. Our first fundraiser will be a Casino Bus Trip on Thursday, January 27, 2011. The bus will leave at 8:30am, right after our breakfast meeting and will arrive back at about 5:30pm. The chairman for this event is our illus-trious past President Rick Renaker. Please lend him your assistance to make this a banner event. The cost of tickets will be $30. 00 for 1, $50.00 for 2 and includes breakfast at Off Street Cafe. Please watch your email for more information from Rick on this! Dues Increase: Thanks to all of our members who voted at the meeting of December 4, 2010 to approve the $10.00 quarterly increase in dues. This increase will help to sustain our programs and operations for the year ahead. Get Involved: This month I will be including an Optimist International Foundation Fund Pass Through application on the back of our agendas (see attached). This is a chance for you to or your company to donate to your pet Optimist programs instead of to Uncle Sam on your taxes this year and will assist us in funding our special programs.

Please send any new/old program ideas you may have to me at .

Best Wishes to you and your families for the best holiday time ever !!!
