Interactive exhibits will feature each PUSD academy, including health careers; creative arts media and design; law and public service; arts entertainment and media; business and entrepreneurship; engineering and environmental science; computer

5. Blair is hosting a “Find out How to Attend College For FREE” night. A Pomona College Representative will discuss the educational value & cost benefits of attending a private liberal arts college. Join us this Thursday, December 6th at 6pm in room C1135 at the middle school campus. All PUSD middle and high school families are welcomed to come.

6. The BSU is sponsoring a field trip to Debbie Allen's Hot Chocolate Nutcracker this Friday, December 7th. The show is a contemporary adaptation of the traditional Nutcracker ballet. Any Blair student who would like to attend is welcome. The tickets are $10. Please see Mrs. Law in room BE3 for a field trip permission slip and more information. Permission slips and money are due this Wednesday, December 5th.

7. On Saturday, December 8, 2018 the Friends of The Altadena Library will be holding a Pop-Up Book Sale during The Annual Christmas Tree Lane Lighting Festivities. The Friends of The Library are looking for several volunteers to help them set up, organize books and clear up when the day is done! This is great opportunity to complete community service hours, help out at a fun community event, and assist a great group of people. Most of the Friends of The Altadena Library members are elderly and really need help with the setting up (at 10:00am) and breaking down of the sale (at 7:00pm). Bring a Friend, See the lights, and serve your community! If you are interested please contact: Yuni LaFontaine via phone 626 798 08 33 ext. 120 or email her at [email protected]. This is a great volunteer opportunity for volunteers age 12 and up!

1. Looking to complete volunteer/community service hours in a fun and rewarding opportunity? The City of Pasadena Human Services and Recreation Department is looking for volunteers who can assist elementary aged children (ages 8-12) with their math, reading, writing, and science homework after school. The Homework, fitness, and fun program meet three days a week at the Villa-Parke Community Center. Anyone 18 & over will have to successfully complete a LiveScan background clearance before being allowed to volunteer. Whether their the lead scorer or the most spirited team player, we want to hear how they have taken the skills they’ve cultivated in the locker room and used them to create a powerful, positive impact on the lives of others around them. Twenty Foot Locker Scholar Athletes will each receive $20,000 in college scholarship money for their excellence in school, on their sports teams, and in their communities. 2. Comcast NBC Universal is now accepting applications for its Leaders & Achievers Scholarship Program for the 2019-2020 academic year and will provide $2,500 to eligible high school seniors. The Comcast leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program anticipates awarding over 800 scholarships to seniors for their community service, academic performance and leadership skills. 3. Are you a high school senior planning to study science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields in college? 6. Odenza Marketing Group Volunteer Scholarship - $500 – 1 Award Deadline December 30, 2018. The main goal of the Odenza Marketing Group Volunteer Award is to encourage students to make a positive contribution to their individual communities, while providing scholarship awards to those who have done so over the previous 12 months. To be eligible for the award the student must: A. Be between the ages of 16 and 22 on December 30, 2017. B. A student must also possess a GPA of 2.5 or higher in his/her last academic year. C. A student must have contributed at least 50 hours of volunteer (non-paid) service within his/her community over the last 12 months. D. Be a resident of USA or Canada. 9. The ALW Training Scholarships are awarded to public school students in grades six through eleven to cover the costs associated with attending summer study and after school programs to further their training in the theatre arts. Through the Training Scholarship, the Wing will cover the cost of tuition for students to attend the training program of their choice, and the student's area of focus can be from any aspect of theatre from performance, to design, to writing, to stage management, etc. For more information about the Training Scholarships, including guidelines and FAQs, please visit our website at https://alwinitiative.secure-platform.com/a/page/TrainingScholarships. 10. The Wing offers ALW University Scholarships for public school students who are in grade 12 and planning to pursue a degree in the theatre arts at the college level. Scholarships of $40,000 ($10,000 a year, renewable for four years) will be awarded to students who demonstrate talent, need, and a passion for pursuing a career in any aspect of the theatre arts (arts administration, directing, performing, design, writing etc.).
