Identity Theft “Taking, or stealing, another’s personal information without permission and using it to assume their identity” Identity theft is often used to commit fraud EX: A person’s bank account number and PIN are taken (identity theft) to “break into” bank account and steal money (fraud) People go to great lengths, even changing their physical appearance to match the victim’s!

Fraud• “a deception deliberately practiced in order to secure

unfair or unlawful gain”What does that mean…?

• Purposely tricking or taking dishonest advantage or a person/group to earn or take something• EX: a person promises you will make a lot of money

investing with them, then takes your money and runs!
