Welcome to Asbury. We are glad you are here at Asbury today, and hope you will feel God’s love in your worship experience. We invite you to note the Asbury Calendar on the back page of the bulletin, and print your information on the pads and return them to the end of the pew. If you desire to join Asbury UMC, come forward during the last song, and our pastors will greet you.

Please take a few moments to silence your phone. For the most meaningful worship, we encourage you to take advantage of our nursery available

for infants through 2 years old.

Welcome and Announcements

Prelude

*Call to Worship

The Christ has been born! Hallelujah!

We join the shepherds in proclaiming the good news. Hallelujah!

Let’s join with the heavenly hosts in singing His praise.

Glory to God in the Highest and peace and good will to all people.

*Hymn of Praise Good Christian Friends, Rejoice 224

Preparing Our Hearts

*Affirmation of Faith from I Timothy 889 There is one God and there is one mediator, Christ Jesus, who came as a ransom for all to whom we testify.

This saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance: That Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners, and was manifested in the flesh, vindicated in the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed in throughout the world, taken up in glory. Great indeed is the mystery of the gospel. Amen.

*Gloria Patri 70 Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, World without end. Amen. Amen.

Children’s Moments Laura Stinnett

Children 3 years to 6th grade are invited to attend their own special worship service, called Kids’ Club. Please meet at the back of the worship area to attend.

The Year in Review - 2015

Children’s Ministry Highlights:

Nursery has grown by 7 babies in 2015, with more on the way!

Parents’ Night Out has grown to 35-45 children each month, serving several families

in the community, as well as, Asbury members.

Vacation Bible School registered over 100 children this last summer. Half of the

children attending were from the community or friends of our children.

Sunday School and Wednesday night classes have stayed strong through 2015.

Confirmation begins in January with approximately 8 in the class. We look forward to

an even greater 2016 through our ministries.

Thank you for your continued support of Children’s Ministries!

Youth Highlights:

We participated in 12 different service projects (an average of 1 per month)

We are thankful for our new Wednesday night adult leaders, and the leaders that have

been with us since last year!

Over half of our regular youth participants are not from Asbury families, and we are

thankful for the opportunity to reach students both within and outside of our congregation!

Finally, thank you for your continued financial support as we take students on life-

changing mission trips, camps and retreats!

Young Adult Highlights:

Young adults transitioned from a Thursday evening Bible study to a Sunday School

Class, which has grown to an enrollment of 16.

The class has participated in several mission projects, such as helping with Ozark

Mission Project Staff training, adopting a CALL kid for Christmas, and participating in a workday at the UALR Wesley Foundation.

We are thankful for our class teacher, Suzy Mullen, as well as, the many who step up

and help in various leadership roles!

Music Ministry Highlights:

Handbell choir resumed in fall of 2015 and played 3 Sundays. They will resume

rehearsals on January 14, 2016.

Children’s Choir sang regularly in all worship services.

Chancel Choir added 2 new members and has maintained a steady worship presence

in the Divine Worship services.

The Chancel Choir presented worship music at the Ash Wednesday, Maundy

Thursday, Good Friday Cantata and A Christmas Lessons and Carols service.

The Praise Band has been led by Mike DuPas on an interim basis for all of 2015. The

Praise Team has continued to grow musically, as well as, in numbers, adding 4 new members who play on a rotating basis.

Adult Discipleship Highlights:

The Young Adults Class and the Welcomers’ Class were new Sunday School Classes

added this past year, and both are very active!

Congregational Care Highlights:

We have had 14 baptisms this year; 8 were infants.

36 people have joined our congregation this year; 9 were Professions of Faith!

ACCDC:

We currently have enrolled over 115 children, caring for their social and educational

needs while sharing the love of Christ each day.

ACCDC’s Carnival of Music fundraiser raised $4,000.00. We hope to start Spring

Gardening and purchase new playground equipment.

Our first Scholastic Bookfair was a success. We sold over $1,300.00 worth of books.

Our profit was over $500.00 in books purchased for the classrooms.

Our wish for 2016 is to purchase a new laminator.
