THE PERFECT COUPLE Fr. Jorge A. Román God could not have found better parents for His Son than Mary and Joseph. Mary was a young girl , who since age 3,had been committed to Zechariah’s education, the husband of her cousin Elizabeth who was a Priest. Twelve years later, Mary went to Nazareth where she was pledged to marry Joseph, who was a fair and hardworking man, descendant of King David. They were not living together when an Angel visited Mary announcing that she had been chosen to be the Mother of God. This, besides being a great honor and unique privilege, was a huge responsibility. To be the MOTHER OF GOD! What if something happened to the child? What a responsibility! But Mary trusts and responds with ¨ do unto me according to your will ¨. What happened to Mary is incredible. No one would believe that an angel appeared before her and she would be the Mother of God. Mary kept silent and set out to serve her cousin Elizabeth, who was expecting John the Baptist, and stayed with her until she gave birth. Upon her return to Nazareth, Jesus' presence is noticed in Mary and Joseph is puzzled; he has respected her and has had no contact with her, so that baby is not his. By accusing her she would be sentenced to death by stoning for alleged adultery. Joseph, who is a perfect gentleman, decides to remain silent. Mary trusts, hopes and keeps everything in her heart. Dreams are the manifestation of what we worry about when we are awake, and in his dreams is how God makes Joseph understand that he has no reason to doubt Mary, because what is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. My brother, Father Sergio in his Pastorela “ OUTSIDE “ interprets Joseph’s encounter with Mary saying: “Mary, today I learned that when you love someone, the past is not important. Today I surrender to you as your husband to assist you in Motherhood. I accept your Son as my own to accompany and protect. Mary, I accept you both.” Thanks to Mary’s yes, the Incarnation of Christ was possible, but thanks to Joseph’s yes the prophecy that the Messiah would be a descendant of David was fulfilled. With our yes, God's will is also fulfilled in us.

Dios no podría haber encontrado

mejores padres para su Hijo que María y

José.

María era una joven que desde los

3 años de edad había sido confiada a la

educación de Zacarías, el esposo de su

prima Isabel que era Sacerdote. Después

de doce años a su cargo, María fue a Na-

zaret donde se comprometió en matrimo-

nio con José, que era un hombre justo y

trabajador, descendiente del Rey David.

Aún no vivían juntos cuando María recibió

la visita del Ángel que le anunciaba que

había sido elegida para ser la Madre de

Dios que se haría hombre en su vientre por

obra del Espíritu Santo. Esto, además de ser un gran honor

y privilegio único, suponía una gran responsabilidad. ¡Nada

menos que ser LA MADRE DE DIOS! ¿Y si le pasaba algo al

niño? ¿Qué cuentas entregaría a Dios? ¡Que gran responsa-

bilidad! Pero María confía y responde con el ¨HAGASE EN

MÍ SEGÚN TU PALABRA¨.

Lo acontecido a María es algo increíble. Nadie po-

dría creer que se le apareció un Ángel y que sería nada me-

nos que la Madre de Dios. María guarda silencio y se pone

en camino para servir a su prima Isabel que entrada en años

espera a Juan el Bautista y se queda con ella hasta su naci-

miento. A su regreso a Nazaret, la presencia de Jesús en

María se hace notoria y José está desconcertado; él la ha

respetado y no ha tenido contacto con ella, por lo que ese

bebé no es suyo. Acusarla supondría que se le condenara a

morir apedreada por el supuesto adulterio. José, que es un

perfecto caballero, decide callar. María confía, espera y

guarda todo en su corazón.

Los sueños son la manifestación onírica de lo que

nos preocupa cuando estamos despiertos y es en el sueño

que Dios le da a entender a José que no tiene por qué du-

dar de María, ya que lo concebido en ella es obra del Espíri-

tu Santo.

¨AFUERA¨ interpreta el encuentro de José con María dicién-

dole:

María. Hoy aprendí que cuando se ama, no se pi-

den cuentas, que cuando se ama, no importa el pasado.

Hoy me entrego a ti como tu esposo para acompañarte con

tu ser Madre. Acepto a tu Hijo como mío para acompañarlo

y protegerlo con mi paternidad. María, los acepto a los dos.

Gracias al SI de María fue posible la Encarnación de

Cristo, pero gracias al SI de José, se cumplió la profecía de

que el Cristo, sería descendiente de David. Con nuestro SI,

también se cumple la voluntad de Dios en nosotros.

WHERE IS THE KING OF THE JEWS

THAT WAS JUST BORN? Fr. Jorge A. Román

The Magi thought the King of the Jews would be born

in a palace, that's why they went to ask King Herod,

but they did not find him there. Nor did I find him at

Kmart or at other stores that have a Christmas

decoration section. I found tres, Christmas ornaments,

lights, Santa Clauses and even Mickey Mouse dressed

up as Santa; but I could not find the Holy Family

Nativity to place in the house. It's like preparing a big

birthday party, but not inviting the birthday boy.

WITHOUT CHRIST THERE IS NO CHRISTMAS!

Christ was born in a dirty, cold and smelly cave

because there was no room for them in the Inn, nor

in any other house. Hopefully now He will find a

warmer and sinless place in our hearts where He will

stay and we may recognize him in any person.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

¿DÓNDE ESTÁ EL REY DE LOS JUDIOS QUE ACABA DE NACER?

Pbro. Jorge A. Román Los Magos de Oriente pensaron que el Rey de los Judíos debía de nacer en un palacio, es por eso que fueron a preguntar al Rey Herodes, pero no lo encontraron allí. Tampoco lo encontré en Kmart, ni en otros almacenes que tenían su sección de adornos Navideños. Pude encontrar arbolitos, esfe-ras, luces, Santa Clauses y hasta Mickey Mouses vestidos de Santa Claus; pero no pude encontrar a la Sagrada Familia para poner el Nacimiento en la casa. Es como preparar una gran fiesta de cumplea-ños, pero no invitar al cumpleañero.

¡SIN CRISTO NO HAY NAVIDAD! Cristo nació en una cueva sucia, fría y malo-liente porque no había lugar para ellos en la posada, ni en otra casa. Ojalá que ahora encuentre un lugar más cálido y limpio de pecado en nuestros cora-zones donde llegue para quedarse y sepamos reconocerlo en cualquiera que llama a las puertas de nuestra alma.
