I have completed my first year here in Kaiapoi. It has been an interesting year and I have really enjoyed getting to know the local businesses and community groups. There is such a purpose here in the re build and I am humbled by what everyone has been through and what you all are going through now. For over 125 years the Kaiapoi Brass Band has been bringing music toKaiapoi folk. Losing their band room in Raven Street Kaiapoi in theSeptember 2010 earthquake was a big set back but resourceful membershave found a new property in Stone Street Kaiapoi and the band hasresumed competing in the Provincial Championships and is ready forplayouts this Christmas. They have a full programme of carols in bothtraditional and modern arrangements which they will be bringing toresidents over the festive season – see box below for dates and times.For anyone, young or not so young, who might like to learn to play a brassinstrument, you are welcome to get in touch. The band offers free tuition,instruments and good playout opportunities.
