The statement is short, but the message is powerful and

describes who we are, what we do and why we do it.

The second poster lists our values: Respect, Integrity,

Collaboration, Excellence and Transparency. Our values

represent our standards of behavior and how we as a team

interact with our residents, visitors and each other.

The third Poster describes our Core Principles and sets the

foundation for how we carry out our mission. Our Core

Principles are as follows:

Service – We are passionate about caring for and serving

our residents, their families and in seeking new residents.

Leadership – We will seek to identify and train effective

leaders at every level of the organization

Simplicity – We will focus on the fundamentals

Improvement – We will get a little better each day

Mental wellness is an important part of your overall

health and can impact your physical well-being.

Participating in leisure and recreation activities can

help you better manage stress and provides you the

chance to find balance in your life. That’s why we

have a variety of recreational activities here for you to

enjoy. Part of our Life Enrichment program here is

bringing in talented musicians and entertainers for all

to enjoy. December is a busy time and we wanted to

take this opportunity to write a little about the talent

that will be coming to Skylark this month!

John Nilsen is a pianist, guitarist,

vocalist and songwriter and one of

the Pacific Northwest’s most

successful performance and

recording artists. Nilsen’s record

sales far exceed a million copies.

230 of his compositions and

arragements received BMI royalties.

Celia Canty has a harp music

business, Heavenly Harps. She

plays both a 35-string lever (Celtic)

harp and a full size, gold symphonic

pedal harp. Her repertoire focuses

on the lovely and accessible

classics and the most beautiful

popular love songs, standards, folk songs, and sacred

tunes, as well as music improvised when the moment

calls.

Lee Stewart began playing the

piano professionally at age 16 and

has remained professional for 50

years, performing from the Midwest

to Las Vegas and California.

Artists like Ray Charles, Bill Evans,

Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra,

and even The Beatles shaped Lee’s all-embracing and

diverse style.

Dayton Mason plays the harp at different venues such as wineries, weddings, fine dining restaurants, spa events, art galleries, cafes, private events, open houses, yoga and healing arts centers, parties, ceremonies and much more. Dayton began playing Harp for Hospice patients, families, caregivers and their fundraising events in California.

Annieville Blues has been playing piano since the tender age of 5. Her music education and training began with traditional classical music but she soon realized that there were more exciting piano styles to play besides Back

and Beethoven. In Annieville’s 35-year music career she has shared the stage with legendary performers including Pinetop Perkins, Barrelhouse Chuck, the Charles Prevost Jazz/New Orleans band in Paris and so very many others. Craig Evans has been playing at Skylark for about a year now. His piano performances are fun, full of energy and heart felt. He likes to play songs that people are familiar with so everyone can sing along while he’s playing.

P.K. Hallinan is an ordained

minister and has

written/illustrated nearly 100

children’s books – He’s sold

more than 9,000,000 copies

worldwide. P.K. has been

volunteering his time at

Skylark, performing both for Assisted Living and

Memory Care. He sings and plays the guitar and

has a wide variety of songs that he plays. P.K.

also volunteers his time at Skylark by providing

spiritual hymns at the Christian Devotionals that

take place every Thursday in the Activity Center.

Message from Memory Care by Caley Johnson

Season’s greetings to everyone! As some of

you may know, I have transitioned to Memory Care

as the Assistant Administrator. I am really excited

about the transition and would love for your all to

stop by and say hi. My new office is located at the

Memory Care entrance. I will still be doing the

monthly billing, so if you have any questions feel free

to come see me. I look forward to what this new

position will bring. Robin and Allyson will be

working at the front desk – Make sure to stop by and

introduce yourselves to them.

Since I’m now working in Memory Care, I

thought it would only be appropriate to share a blurb

about our Memory Care Community – Our

community’s Memory Care environment is secure,

specially designed by dementia experts to reduce the

risk of danger from wandering. The hallways and

other design features are used to assist with

navigation and reduce anxiety in residents. A safe

environment also encourages residents to remain

independent for as long as possible. Knowing that

your loved one has trained 24-hour care team gives

families peace of mind. We are committed to

providing families and caregivers with information

and practical tips to help them navigate the various

challenges that are common when caring for someone

with Alzheimer’s. I encourage you to stop by and

check out our Memory Care Community!

Reminders:

-Activity Calendars and Menus are still located at the

front desk.

-Meal tickets can be purchased at the front desk for

In astrology, those born between December 1–21 are Archers of Sagittarius. Sagittarians are travelers, open-minded, and constantly in search for meaning. Extroverted and optimistic, Archers seek change and take concrete steps to achieve their goals. Those born between December 22–31 are Capricorn’s Goats. Goats are practical, determined and focused on their ambitious goals. They follow a straightforward, well-planned path and persevere with grit and honesty.
