Thank you students for your participation in this meet. It is our hope that this skill of public speaking will be of use to you in the coming years. We would like to thank the parents for providing transportation and moral support for this worthwhile process of training public speakers. The confidence that is formed from this training will assist our young people in future years to have the confidence to boldly speak about Christ to mankind.

Also, we thank the coaches for their efforts during those five weeks: Mrs. Haley - Speech, Mr. Eternick - Demonstration, Mrs. Eternick - Story Telling, & Mrs. Schwartz - Prose & Poetry.

Dear Parents,

Do you have some Christmas shopping to do? Need someone to watch your kids? If so, your children are invited to Christmas for Kids, a free event held at St. John’s school. They will enjoy a fun-filled day playing games and making projects while you have time to get some much needed Christmas preparation done. A nutritious lunch, snacks, and T-shirt are included. Christmas for Kids is for children ages 3 and older (we do ask that the children please be potty-trained) and is open to all children so invite your family, friends, and neighbors! Please complete the registration form below to sign up and to make sure your child gets the correct T-shirt size.

Also, the Waterloo Holiday Parade will be taking place on December 10th at 4:30pm in down-town Waterloo. Christmas for Kids will be done just in time for families to go and see the parade. St. John will have a float in the parade and the committee is in need of some children (ages 6 and up) to participate in the parade and ride on the float. If your child is willing to participate in the parade, please check the box next to their name on the registration form below.

COOKBOOK UPDATE!

The cookbook committee would like to thank everyone who has already purchased cookbooks. Sales are great and hopefully those of you who have them will enjoy using them over the holiday. Keep in mind that they would make a great gift for Christmas, maybe a shower gift for a bride to be, or a house warming gift for the new homeowner. Buy the book, add a baking pan and the ingredients for your favorite recipe from the book and you've added a whole new meaning to "thoughtful" pre-sent. You can purchase the books easily through any of the committee members, Ann Weber, Naomi Plocher, Leslie Weber or Keri Sellnow.

Happy Cooking!

“FROM HEAVEN ABOVE” - OUR WEEKLY ADVENT SERVICES

As the 500th anniversary of the Reformation approaches, let Martin Luther’s beloved hymn “From Heaven Above” speak to you in our special Advent worship series. Each service in this 4-part series focuses on the divine gifts that come down to us through the birth of Jesus.

Advent 1 on November 27 & 28, The Gift of Hope based on Matthew 12:15-21, looks at how the people of Israel waited in hope for the promised Messiah, and how we now wait in hope for his return on the Last Day.

Advent 2 on December 4 & 5, The Gift of Love based on John 3:13-17, looks at how the steadfast love of God is revealed in the gift of his Son and how we, as the redeemed people of God, have the privilege of sharing his love with others. Advent 3 on December 11 & 12, The Gift of Peace based on John 14:25-27, reminds us that we have peace with God through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and that we are no ambassadors of that peace to all the world. Advent 4 on December 18 & 19, The Gift of Life based on John 1:1-5, invigorates us with the message that we have been given a life of faith here on earth in Christ’s name and eternal life in heaven with him through his precious birth among us.

Please join us and bring a friend! Everyone is welcome!
