2014 was a successful year during which DDWMW showed fast-paced development in all core areas of our business due to a very clear vision and strategy. We have established our reputation on our expertise, experience and in building world first projects. As we endeavor to encourage innovation in all aspects of our business, our signing of the Rashid C platform will pose as a new challenging project in 2015 in which our outstanding approach to project management will deliver innovative results. This month we have addressed a worldwide audience though our sponsorship of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters and fostered further positive relations with our distinguished clients and business partners. Drydocks World And Maritime World Commemorate Employee Service Milestones On UAE National Day

DDWMW celebrated the 43rd UAE National Day on December 2nd 2014 with a ceremony to commemorate the success of the UAE. Honorary events have taken place in both Dubai Maritime City and Jadaf Dubai where HE Khamis Juma Buamim honored 150 employees who have spent between 25 and 30 years of sincere service and hard work with DDWMW. His Excellency granted employees personalized awards and certificates of appreciation during the ceremony at the Maritime Business Centre in Dubai Maritime City. His Excellency also participated in the national celebrations at the ancient Jadaf Dubai.

Omniyat Group, joined by Dubai Maritime City Officials, break ground on outstanding new project ‘ANWA by OMNIYAT’

On December 9th Omniyat Group, a leading developer in the Middle East broke ground on ANWA by Omniyat. ANWA will be one of the world’s most exciting seafront developments that will stand out as the guiding star of Dubai, visible from the sea in Dubai Maritime City. At the ANWA ground breaking, Dubai Maritime City revealed its new ambitious plan for the marine destination that will have 53 mixed-use projects, hotels, shopping malls, restaurants and 10 fascinating parks. The groundbreaking ceremony was conducted by H.E. Khamis Juma Buamim Chairman Dubai Maritime City and Mahdi Amjad Omniyat Group’s Executive Chairman and CEO, along with other senior officials from Dubai Maritime City and Omniyat Group. Designed to recreate the glory days of trans-ocean cruising marked by glitz, glamour and art deco of the 20s and 30s, the prestigious project was initiated with the groundbreaking followed by a press conference in Dubai Maritime City.

Rashid C Signing Ceremony

Drydocks World has been awarded the contract for Rashid C platform from Technip. The signing ceremony for the Rashid C platform was held in Dubai Maritime City on December 9th 2014 followed by a steel cutting ceremony in the Drydocks World-Dubai yard. Drydocks World will be fabricating a jacket and wellhead platform, with the total weight of the platform being 2,000 tons. As a fast track project Drydocks World plans to strategically execute a project methodology designed to maximize capabilities and minimize obstacles to successfully deliver Rashid C, using our outstanding original approach to project management. Drydocks World looks forward to enhancing our business relationship with Technip and working with them again.

LNG Fuel Forum

On December 10th 2014 His Excellency Khamis Juma Buamim spoke at the LNG Fuel Forum held at the Hilton Dubai Jumeirah, delivering a speech on Al Emiratiya: LNG fuelled harbor tugs for the Middle East. The forum gave insight into projects developing LNG fuelled harbour tugs and LNG ready boxships for the Middle Eastern market. The forum also assessed potential availability and vessel demand for LNG as a bunker fuel, examined vessel design and technology, providing an interactive platform to network with industry professionals.

ADNATCO & NGSCO visit Drydocks World

On December 9th 2014 representatives from ADNATCO-NGSCO visited the Drydocks World yard. Ahmed Saeed Al Dhaheri Senior Vice President- Commercial, Capt. Malhem Melhem MICS- Tanker Chartering Dept. Manager, and Ragheb Hamdan Tanker Technical Superintendent had a tour onboard Abu Dhabi III vessel accompanied by Saood Abdulrahman Ghanim AlMutaiwee Manager- Business Development Department Drydocks World.

From December 7th-13th 2014 DDWMW proudly sponsored the ODLM tournament during its ninth edition on the iconic Majlis Course at the Emirates Golf Club Dubai, held under the patronage of HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, wife of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.


Omega Dubai Ladies Masters The tournament continues to be the first & the only fully fledged professional ladies golf tournament in the Middle East, showcasing the world’s leading players every year. From December 10th – December 13th DDWMW hosted clients and business partners in our hospitality chalet, where they enjoyed excellent views of the tournament as well as sumptuous food throughout the day. With many cutting edge projects in hand, Drydocks World is well known for community initiatives in protecting the marine and natural environment, and is proud to extend our corporate support to the flagship ladies golfing event of the Emirate, promoted and organized by golf in DUBAI.

DDWMW Cricket Team Vs. ABB Cricket Team Our DDWMW Cricket team played another Exhibition Cricket Match (20 overs) with ABB Team on the 13th Dec 2014 at ICC Global Academy playground. The ABB team set the target of 173 runs to DDWMW team. ABB won the match by just 9 runs, with DDWMW receiving the Runners-up Trophy. The top management team members from DDWMW, Mr. Janarthanan Kanthan Commercial Director and Mr. David Galea Head of Legal & Company Secretary participated, as well as ABB’s Country Manager Mr.Carlos Pone and Regional Communications Manager Ms. Karren Wilds, distributing trophies to the winners and runner’s-up.

DDWMW Cricket Team Vs. Abela & Co Cricket Team Our DDWMW Cricket team played an Exhibition Cricket Match (20 overs) with Abela & Co on 13th Dec 2014 at BCC Playground, Al Jadaf. Our Team chased the target of 203 runs, won the match by 5 wickets and retained the Winner’s Trophy. Our Batsman Mr. Muhammad Javed made a century in this match (119 Not Out). The Vice President of Abela & Co, Mr. Hasan Amad, distributed the trophies to the winners and Runner’s-up.

Basic Personal Finance Management Session One of the major stresses people face throughout the world is the Financial Stress. Some of us have the capability to manage our finances whereas others are unable to do so. In an effort to guide DDW/MW workers towards better Basic Personal Finance Management, the medical team organized a talk in collaboration with the Care-for-laborers organization.

Fazza Marine Appreciation

On December 8th the Director of Fazza Marine Affairs expressed his appreciation on the support, dedication, cooperation and open-minded thinking for the work carried out on vessels Al Fattan, Al Hel 1, Ferry 3, Al Hel 2, Salalah 1, Salalah 2 and Swath. He commended the quick response to all requests and looks forward to many more years of mutually beneficial business and success.

The Marine Transport Department of Dubai lauded DDWMW’s work on completing maintenance for the RTA Marine Fleets. The Acting Director of Marine Transport Department wished DDWMW continuous development and support for our organization during 2015, extending his appreciation for DDWMW’s valuable support and remarkable success.

RTA Marine Appreciation

Care-for-laborers is a Non-Profit social work organization which acts as a platform to exchange and implement ideas for the improvement of the quality of life and financial stability of laborers and other low-income workers. The speaker Mr. K.V. Shamsudheer is a renowned speaker with over 300 talks to his credit including one on BBC TV. The talk on “Financial Management & Investment Opportunities“ for “A Better Tomorrow“ took place on Monday 08th Dec 2014 in Drydocks World facilities.

Pipe Department Process Enhancement

This month the Assistant Manager of the Pipe Department, Carmelo M Castro, completed a process enhancement for heating coil fabrication and installation. He improved the efficiency of heating coils fabrication and installation by employing the use of tube expander in the process, reducing the production cost and improving construction schedule. This resulted in substantial savings on vessels LIWA & ABU DHABI III. We congratulate him for his innovative methods, taking initiative and a job well-done.

On December 23rd 2014 the Technical Manager at Kito Enterprises extended his congratulations and appreciation to Drydocks World for all our efforts and excellent work on repairing the Abouzar barge within 39 days. The Technical Superintendent from Kito Enterprises also extended special thanks to the safety department at Drydocks World for their excellent coordination and monitoring. They found DDW to be responsible and effective throughout all work being carried out, and wished DDW a joyous New Year with lots of success.
