t im e of f w ork. For Chr ist ians, how ever , th is t im e of

year is a happy remind er of th e hope w e have be-

cause of Jesus Chr ist.

Before Jesus came, God seem ed distant , hidden in

the Holy of H ol ies in th e t em ple, accessib le only t o

the h igh pr iest . Wo rshipers w ondered w heth er the ir

sacr if ices w ere accept able. They dou bt ed th eir salva-

t ion .

Christ m eans hop eto t he person ou t o f w ork , to t he

struggl ing sing le m oth er , to the dying bel iever , to

tho se w ho m ourn. Even i f you ' re just s logging your

w ay through the d isappoint m ents of l ife , if you have

Jesus, you have ho pe. And he is not a false ho pe, a

chi ld ish fa i ry ta le that w e w ish w i l l have a happy end-

ing. W hen Chr ist rose f rom the dead that en ded t he

argument . Per iod. Our hope in h im is so lid and i t is

real.

Chr istm as is a renew al of th at ho pe. I t reconf i rm s i t

for us i f our v is ion has grown d im . I t w as set t led long

ago, so w e don ' t have t o do ubt any m ore. Jesus is the

fu l f i l lment of our h ope, our deepest longings com e

Community HeadlinesNew Board M embers and Comm uni ty Lay

Director

At the Novemb er/December Com bined Comm uni ty Gather-

ing, we announced our new Board M emb ers and Comm uni ty

Lay Director .

Charlot te Bosecker, M elanie Huddleston, Ashley Coco, and

Kerry M ansour. These four w i l l be serving a term that w i l l

last un ti l Decem ber 2015.

Gregg Ulvestad w i l l be serving as our 2013 Com m unit y Lay

Director .

Help Wanted

If you have given a talk on either a mens or womens walk

since August 2008 w e are asking, i f you can, that you give a

copy to Jimmy Smith. Our example pool is getting low. You

can ei ther em ail a copy to smi th@gim mej imm y.com or take a

hard copy to h im.

Upcoming Walk Updates

As of Sunday, December 16, 2012, Mens Walk #207, sched-uled fo r February 21-24, 2013, has 6 m en signed up t o t ake

their pi lgrim w alk. Appl icat ions for you r pi lgrim s to go on

th is walk wi l l be taken anyt im e f rom now unt i l February 14,

2013.

Also, Womens Walk #208, scheduled for March 21-24, 2013,

already has ten w om en signed up for their pi lgrim w alk. Ap-

pl icat ions are being accepted no w and w i l l contin ue to be

accepted unti l M arch 14, 2013.

Also not e that app l icat ions wi l l be accepted fo r al l walks and

f l ights scheduled for 2013 anyt im e f rom now unt i l one w eek

prior t o the start d ate of the w alk. The fee for walks is $200

and for f l ights is $125.

Appl icat ions can be m ai led to the comm unit y P.O. Box or

brought by Rhett and Bailey Livelys (the community regis-

We would like to make books available free

of charge to the caterpillars on a Chrysalis

flight. You can help make that happen! Gath-

er new or gently used books that teenagers

would be interested in and donate them.

Check your thrift stores, garage sales andbook store sale racks to see what you can

find. There will be a box available at com-

munity meetings each month to accept your

donations.

If you don't want to shop for the books your-

self, you can always donate money and

someone else will buy the books.

As a parent o r grandparent , you know h ow quick ly

your childs calendar fills up, especially in the sum-

m er t ime. W e rea lize th is too w h ich is why w e have

already set t he dat es for o ur t w o Chrysalis Flights

th is sum m er .

Boys Flight #50 will be July 11-14, 2013 and w i l l

once again be held at How ard College in Big Sprin g,

TX.

Girls Flight #51 is two weeks later, July 25-28, 2013

also at How ard College in Big Spring.

Ashley Coco and Cherilyn Amburn this years lay di-

rectors, are a l ready hard at w ork prepar ing for t h is

years f l ights.

The fee th is year is $125 for the w eekend and appl i -

cat ions are already being accept ed so feel free to

place this on your childs calendar before it gets

f i l led wi t h other events.
