This is the time of year for giving, remembering loved ones, and making new memories. We are blessed here to have so many people who believe in our mission of being a voice for wolves and wildlife and giving the animals in our care the best possible life we can with lots of love and good mental and physical enrichment.With the economy being unstable it is natural to feel that donations will be as well, however this year has been our best one yet. So far, the contributions that have came to us has been from generous people who come in person or send donations in Christmas cards. These donations will help maintain the Center for close to two months.We want to thank the many contributors for believing in us and trusting that we will put their hard earned money to the best use we can to help protect our vanishing majestic wolf.We promise to work every day to educate the public through several means including our on-site tours, website, Facebook, our free downloadable ipad application, “ World of Wolves,” outreach programs at schools, scout groups and on site events along with our newest tool to educate the public regarding killing of wolves; our billboards leading into Yellowstone Park in both Wyoming and Montana.Thank you all for helping us to continue our mission. We could not do it without you.

Annual Turkey TossWhat a great year again and a fantastic group of people. We saw some of our friends that come every year and a lot of new faces. On Saturday, December 15th, legal trap-ping of Montana’s wolves went into effect. For the very first time, Montana’s wolves will be blindsided by these devices of torture---they will be lured to their death with scents, and baited traps.

One anti-trapping group, ‘FOOTLOOSE MONTANA’, is taking concrete and posi-tive steps to end this misery for wolves and all of the wildlife of Montana. To put forth the TRAP-FREE PUBLIC LAND INITIATIVE - it takes funds. The trapper organizations, and anti-wolf organiza-tions are putting massive donations into their war chest to make sure that FOOT-LOOSE MONTANA doesn’t succeed, and the wolves and all wildlife continue to fall victim to traps on public lands.

It cost a trapper 30.00 to trap a wolf in Montana --- that 30.00 equals hours, and sometimes days of torment in a trap. We all know that a trapped animal is a terri-fied animal; one that is also deprived of water, food, protection, and they are in excruciating pain. This all ends in a frenzy of brutality and death.

Good Wolf is asking that you consider donating to FOOTLOOSE MONTANA to support their critical efforts to defeat the trappers. Of course, any donation (no matter how small) would be appreciated---we are using the starting guideline of 30.00 (which is the same amount of money paid by the trappers to cause the misery). Again, realize that most people are under an economic strain, ttherefore any donation amount would be welcome and would help.

FOOTLOOSE MONTANA, of course, is a registered NON-PROFIT organization, so donations are tax-deductible.

If you can, please consider helping so that wolves can walk free in Mon-tana, and there will be no howls of pain in the forest night.....

The Guardian- Costa Rica on Monday became the first Latin American country to ban hunting as a sport, after an unanimous and final vote from Congress.Lawmakers had provisionally approved a reform to its Wildlife Conservation law back in October. With a population of 4.5 million people, Costa Rica is one of the world’s most biodiverse nations.The central American country is already known for its environmental mindset, with 25% of its land protected as national parks or reserves.Under the new law, those caught hunting can face up to four months in prison or fines of up to $3,000.Smaller penalties for people who steal wild animals or keep them as pets were

also included in the reform. Jaguars, pumas and sea turtles are among Costa Rica’s most treasured species.“There is no data on how much money hunting generates in the country, but we do know there are currently clandestine hunting tours that go for about $5,000 per person,” said Arturo Carballo, deputy director at Apreflofas, an environmentalist organisation who spearheaded the reform.Foreign hunters come to Costa Rica in search of exotic felines while others look to obtain rare and colorful parrots as pets.This is also Costa Rica’s first proposal that came to Congress by popular initiative, with 177,000 signatures calling for the ban submitted two years ago.

We visited your wonderful sanctuary last month and he really bonded with Akela. She made an impact in his life already. Vieques Humane Society - Vieques, Puerto Rico, a small island located off the mainland’s east coast, for many years offered no veterinary or animal rescue services. During the early 1980’s, a handful of concerned immigrants from the states and a few local residents took a serious interest in improving the welfare of the animals. They began by feeding the island’s multitudinous strays and soliciting the help of veterinarians from Puerto Rico to sterilize them. By 1987, the Vieques Humane Society and Animal Rescue, Inc. was officially established as a non-profit organization. Today they still offer the only veterinary services on the island and have developed strong community based programs.

SYLVIAHello all my beloved fans. I was once a popular film star, you may recognize me from my work on the silver screen! ;) I have decided to retire and find myself a nice cozy forever home to live in. I am starting to second guess my decision, as I have been looking for a new place to call my own for 9 months now. I know I don’t look as svelte and glamorous as I once did, but that just means there is more of me to love. I have gotten a bit lazy since my days of fame, but I assure you I am working on getting back to my silver screen figure. I am very nice and loving, all those years of being a superstar did not go to my head. I have simple needs now: a warm spot to sleep, maybe a friend or two, and a few toys for me to play with, when I am in the mood. Please consider taking me home with you, I would like to find a home before they try to call me back to work.

BAILeYHello, I’m bailey. I used to be a trader on Wall Street, but I found the pace maddening and the integrity of some other traders questionable at best, so when my firm offered an early out, I jumped at it. Now I’m looking for a more peaceful lifestyle. Perhaps in the mountains, where I can lay in the grass with a cool breeze blowing over me and the birds singing above. I’m thinking of taking up gardening, but first I have to find the right family looking just for me! I am hoping this new year will bring me luck in finding forever love.
