The Third Merck Young ScienTiST AwArd dinner nighTIt was a memorable celebration as distinguished guests from various ministries and research institutes gathered to recognize the winners of the Merck Young Scientist Award (MYSA). The award dinner represented the culmination of the MYSA competition that had called for submissions from local post-graduates students nationwide currently pursuing their Masters or PhD qualifications. Congratulations to this years MYSA competition winners; Vanitha Mariappan of Universiti Malaya, winner of the Biosciences category and to Yap Wei Boon of University Putra Malaysia, winner of the Chromatography category.

City University College of Science & Technology held its first ever convocation ceremony last month at the Crowne Plaza Mutiara, Kuala Lumpur. The historic milestone witnessed the pioneer group of 462 graduates who have completed their various programmes celebrate an important rite of passage in the presence of their loved ones and lecturers.

At present, CUCST has established six schools offering homegrown and international programmes at the diploma, undergraduate, masters and doctoral levels. These schools are the School of Business, School of Information Technology, School of Architecture, Design Technology & Engineering, School of Education, Foundation & Liberal Studies, School of Nursing, and the School of Allied Health Sciences.

kdu iS now kdu univerSiTY collegeKDU adds another remarkable milestone in its journey of providing quality tertiary education in Malaysia, with the official launch of KDU University College last month by the Minister of Higher Education, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Mohd Khaled Nordin. The launch, held at KDU University Colleges Damansara Jaya campus was made memorable with performances by students from the institutions various schools, including an impressive glow-in-the-dark hand mime performance by the School of Pre-University Studies.

The two visionary musicians who make up Grammy Award winning Daft Punk, Guy-Manuel de Homen-Christo and Thomas Bangalter take on the score for the upcoming movie TRON and does it proud! The French duo not only produced the album, they assembled a symphony of one hundred world class musicians in London and recorded the orchestra for this soundtrack too. We cannot get enough of the track Derezzed which sets the bar pretty high for the remainder of the score - rest assured you will not be disappointed.
