Horoscope 2010

In 2010 we’re doing a Horoscope! We’re starting this issue with the January 2010 horoscopes.

We decided some time ago to create a post or website where we can write stories or put photos for others to see. We ended up at Blogspot which was created by Google for people wanting to create a ‘blog’ which is a little like a website where you go and see what people are talking about or posting. And in our case, our blog is called ‘Lejac Indian Residential School’ and can be found at: http://lejac.blogspot.com where we have so far posted quite a number of photos starting around 1960 up to the early 1970s (like the photo above)

After we created the blog, I found Jim Callanan (formerly Br. James) through the phone book and we talked about a couple weeks ago (mid-Nov) about what it was like there....at Lejac...in the 1960s. I sent him the link

and he got back to me couple days later and made some changes, and added some of his own words to things I’d

written. Which I later posted and you can see it by going to the blog, where I talk about being there, at Lejac, and his stuff is the writing in blue. And he and I we agreed to stay in touch.

I no sooner talked to him and the very next week (HOLY SMOKERS ANYWAY)…..you’re not gonna believe this….Father Brioux (formerly John Brioux) emailed me!! So, there I was, on the net, writing a sort of long email letter to Fr. Brioux. How things go!!!

The blog is for everybody, if you want to share old photos. We left our email address in case anyone wants to say anything….or send stuff.

Merry Christmas!!

It’s Christmas time again, there’s going to be lots of partying and drinking. Not

only that, people travel far to see family, friends – Drive safe.

At this year’s Quarterly in Vancouver on Dec 4th, I was scared of traveling with the girls (Jeanne, Sandra & Adele). These good people, all took care of me everywhere we went. Thank you very much. May God Bless you while you’re working or traveling, wherever you girls go, take car, I love you all!

Word of Advice, people should go home one hour early when bad weather. You never know what’s going to happen? It’s all for your safety. Example: Lots of animals’ on road at night. If you see moose, dim your high beams and slow down.

We’ll that’s all I have to say. Elder’s advice. Believe it! LOL. Don’t drink and drive. If you want to drink, get home first. Drink at home. Remember this is a holiday.

Have a safe Christmas and Happy New Year 2010!!!

Respectfully,

Josephine Tylee

Just thought I’d share my traditional Christmas dinner with you as I remember it growing up living with my

grandma Catherine and Theodore, also my grandparents on mom’s side Nancy and Mo’dees.

It was a holy time for our people we had to pray for good things to come, such as hunting trapping and

fishing, and my grandma would start getting ready, telling grandpa to go hunting for moose, so we can have

dried meat and canned moose meat, he would also hunt for rabbits and grouse sometime I would go with

my grandpa and help him, he would tell me stories of long time ago, how they did things in he’s days, it was

wonderful especially looking forward to Christmas knowing were going to midnight mass and later when we

get home we’ll have cocoa, which of course grandma made it special still don’t know how she made it, but

it was so good.

Just spending time with my family at home and watching grandma making moccasins and I’m thinking it

might be my present and it’s usually is, almost every year I would get a pair from grandma, I also had my

own snow shoe which grandpa made for me, also helping out other families who less fortunate than us

sharing food with them, which has always been our way as Tse’khene people.

I guess in those days we didn’t have the money to buy a lot of stuff; we had homemade stuff and good food,

which is the real Christmas spirit for me that feel more real and genuine.

Today I have three wonderful children, Dora (Len) Vincent (Jess) Lionel (Nicole) and one precious

grandson Jared Ihtsi’nuda and brand new baby on the way for Lionel &Nicole, of course my awesome

husband Alec J Chingee of thirty-seven years, my best half. I’m very blessed with such beautiful family.

HoroscopeGet ready! 2010 will be an exciting year for every sign, for several reasons. One of the

primarily cosmic culprits is red-hot Mars, the ancient God of War and the current astrological ruler of passion, excitement, and action - obviously, not a boring kind of guy. He'll be wearing Leo, an equally red-hot Fire Sign that will put Mars in the mood to have fun and, even more importantly, to push aggressively to be the star of the show.

Now, Mars usually spends about two months in a sign, but this time, he'll be in Leo for nine months. The thermostat of that sign began to rise when he entered Leo in mid-October of 2009, but it will stay hot until June of 2010. This will give every sign a chance to share the spotlight and make its mark on the world - in many different ways, of course. All the horoscopes are for January 2010. Enjoy!

Several planets will influence your career this month, Aries, all of them done up in serious, responsible Capricorn. Together, they'll make it possible for your monetary dreams to come true, so if offers come in when the Solar Eclipse of January 15 arrives, don't push them aside - even if it means taking on a lot of overtime, or even accepting a new position. If you're doubtful, trust your antennae and wait. Take your time, think it through, and talk it all over with your partner or discuss it with a trusted friend.

If anybody loves being on their home turf, Taurus, it's you, but this month, you'll be bitten - Big Time - by the travel bug, who'll inspire you to take your show on the road. If you're attached, you'll be taking off with your sweetheart, who'll be delighted. Just be smart. Don't make any definite plans, until after Mercury turns direct on the 15th, putting an end to three long weeks of wreaking havoc on just about all your plans. Better still, leave after the 17th, when Jupiter will set off for dreamy, romantic Pisces, guaranteeing a trip to remember!

Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.

You're a cerebral sign, Gemini, which means you're usually too wrapped up in your ideas to be overly romantic, but the Solar Eclipse of the 15th will change all that, as it lights a fire in your house of intimacy, making you inseparable from your love interest - much to their delight! He or she has been dying for some quality time with you. Mercury's three-week retrograde in your house of intimate matters has undoubtedly made it quite difficult for you to get together, but he'll turn direct that same day. Spend it together - alone!

Your house of one-on-one relationships will be jam-packed in January, Cancer, with a crew of planets wearing serious, responsible Capricorn. The Sun, chatty Mercury, and loving Venus will all visit that tender place, bringing along some wonderful new admirers - the kind that will want to be a around for a while. If you're single, the Solar Eclipse of the 15th could mean you'll become an "item" with someone who's not from your neck of the woods. If you're attached, you'll suddenly find it easy to talk about that issue you've been avoiding, bringing you even closer than ever.

Several planets in diligent Capricorn will put you to work with a vengeance during the first half of January, Leo, but not to worry. You may be late for dinner more than once, but assure your sweetheart that it will be well worth the effort in the long run. The Powers That Be are watching, and there may be a raise or bonus, or maybe even a well-deserved promotion en route. On the 17th, generous Jupiter, the heaven's equivalent of Santa Claus, will enter your house of intimacy, wearing romantic Pisces. It just doesn't get any better than this!

Four planets will make their way through your house of love affairs this month, Virgo, all of them in earthy, dutiful Capricorn, urging you to become much closer to a loved one. You'll be thinking some very serious thoughts, but don't make any plans or promises until after Mercury turns direct on the 15th - in your house of love affairs. Mercury's retrograde has been known to wreak havoc on even the best laid plans. Wait until the 17th, when mighty Jupiter will enter romantic Pisces and your house of one-to-one relationships to pop any romantic questions!

Several planets in Capricorn and your house of family matters will keep you extremely busy for the first half of the month, Libra, but not to worry. Do your duty to your loved ones, especially elders, who may be having problems with Mercury's retrograde period, which won't end until the 15th. As "other-oriented" as you are, you couldn't live with yourself if you didn't help them out, anyway. On the 17th, however, Jupiter will enter Pisces, a sign that's almost as romantic as your own, and you'll be ready for romance - and lots of it!

Lucky you, Scorpio! On the 17th, Jupiter, the stars' gift-giver, will enter romantic, dreamy Pisces and your house of lovers for an entire year! If you're not attached, prepare for quite the parade of admirers, starting on this date. In the meantime, you may have to deal with a few little aggravations, brought to you courtesy of Mercury's retrograde through your house of communications, but all that will be a distant memory once he moves direct on the 15th and conspires with the Solar Eclipse to bring all kinds of new and interesting friends into your life.

It's been a while since you've really concentrated on saving money, Sagittarius, but that should definitely be your New Year's resolution. Fortunately, you'll have plenty of help - expert help. Four planets in serious, responsible Capricorn will strengthen your resolve from their position in your house of finances. Don't bother starting this new financial regime until after the 15th, since Mercury will be retrograde, and all kinds of old expenses may come up quite suddenly. In the meantime, make a battle plan - also known as a "budget" - and stick to it!

What a month, Capricorn! January always finds you working hard, both on your career and on yourself, but this month will be the topper! Four planets will spend much of January in your own sign and your house of personality, bringing out all your famous Capricorn qualities: duty, respectability, responsibility, and, most important, the determination to keep every promise you make. Don't beat yourself up if you can't do everything before the 15th, though. Mercury will be retrograde until then, making it difficult for even the best-made plans to work out. Until then, rely on another of your qualities: patience.

Dear Friends & Family, first of all we would like to send out our love and blessing

for Christmas and the New Year.

Our children are growing so rapidly, i can barely keep up with my camera anymore. Ashton is 5 now and is enjoying kindergarten. He’s always coming home with new sayings and some very questionable behavior. Ashton is definitely strong willed and

head strong. He always has to get the last word in, he gets this from his dad I guess. Our boy is the cuddliest lil man ever who can’t say “I love you” enough during the day. Scarlett, our 3 year old redhead. Need I say more, lol. Scarlait is our laid back kind of gal who loves bubble baths and watching movies. She’s also addicted to her bike and to go bikeriding everywhere and in any kind of weather. She’s our sweet girl

with a smile that can brighten anybody’s day. Brianna, our angel. She is always willing to play and follows her brother and sister around as much as possible. Brianna is a strong lil girl. With everything she has been through this year, she’s always been so happy with a serious side as well. Everyone’s heart just melts when Brianna looks up at you with her big dowey eyes.

As for Coty and I, we are busy as ever. Chasing 3 kids around is a full time job. We are good support for one another though and it makes the days run a lot smoother. We dream of moving back to BC. That is our goal for the next 3 years.

We hope you have a wonderful Christmas and may all your wishes for 2010 come true.

Love from all of us,

Coty, Leanna, Ashton, Scarlett & Brianna

Four planets will tiptoe through your house of secrets this month, Aquarius, which have never been one of your favorite things. You're too blunt to enjoy participating in any kind of intrigue. Try to make some adjustments in your thinking now, though, especially if it's for the sake of a loved one who needs to keep a certain matter under wraps. If you have to, put some distance between you and all parties concerned until after the 15th, when communicative Mercury turns direct and a Solar Eclipse occurs - two powerful cosmic pushes that will urge everyone to come clean.

Your friends will play a special role in your life now, Pisces. The real ones, that is - the ones who have been by your side forever and earned your trust. Four planets in sturdy Capricorn will pass through your house of friendships, so if you need them, call and they'll be there. One may even introduce you to the love of your life - yes, really - after the 17th, when benevolent Jupiter enters your own romantic sign and your house of personality and appearance. Your mission is to accept the introduction - no matter what happened last time!

A little over a year ago, Georgina Chingee didn’t know the meaning of “Brunoise”, “Mirepoix” or “Quenelle”. Well, that last one sounds like the small town close to Prince George, however, that’s not right. They are French cooking terms she learned at the CNC School of Culinary Arts to become a Red Seal chef. Georgina always liked to cook, but when she was given the chance to study real cooking, she didn’t think twice. It was a tough year. Going to school every day of the week. Leaving McLeod Lake around 7 in the morning for the drive to Mackenzie, start school at 8, drive back home around 2, do the household chores and study for the next day.

Last September she passed the course and now she works as a caterer. She catered several diners for the McLeod Lake Indian Band with success!

Organizing an event, meeting or dinner? Give Georgina a call at 250-750-4421.

Ps. before I forget.............

Brunoise: Vegetables cut into very small diced pieces*

Mirepoix: A mixture of braising vegetables*

Quenelle: Minced fish or meat mixture that is formed into small shapes and poached*

* Source: My wife Kandy, who is doing the same course this year.
