The Travel Place in Campbell River and Black Rock Resort in Ucluelet have come together to help make a difference in health care.

Campbell River Hospital Foundation is excited to partner with these two community minded businesses on a campaign to build awareness and create sustainability for our Hospital and Yucalta Lodge. From now until January 31, 2014 every person who signs up to become a monthly donor will be entered to win a two night get-a-way for two in a one bedroom suite at Black Rock Resort in Ucluelet. Not only do you win through giving back but you could win a mini-vacation too.

If you are new to the work of the Foundation, perhaps we can inspire you to join us in supporting health care for Campbell River and North Vancouver Island. Whether you are in your golden years, planning for retirement or raising your family, we ask you to imagine one single day in this beautiful place that we live without your good health. Your donation supports our hospital and Yucalta Lodge through equipment purchase, staff education and capital projects and leaves a legacy of health care excellence for future generations.

Monthly donations are a convenient way to spread your donation over the entire year and provide the Campbell River Hospital Foundation with a sustainable funding source. It allows you to budget your generosity – and you receive a single, cumulative tax receipt at year end. You may choose to have funds withdrawn regularly from your bank account or from your credit card. It could be a $10.00 perpetual monthly donation. It’s that easy and you may update or cancel at any time.

Our Staff Lotto program is a wonderful example of how a group can come together to support their organization. Last year our Staff Lotto program generated over $42,000 in revenue. We are proud of these results, it demonstrates to our community that our Health Care staff stands with us.

For information on how you can become a monthly donor contact the Foundation offi ce by phone 250-850-2418, in person, we are located in the hospital basement near the Rehabilitation Department or online at www.crhospitalfoundation.ca

Presidents Message The holidays are rapidly approaching and on behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy New Year.

There has been much talk about the plight of health care in Campbell River. But one thing that we can all agree upon is the importance of having the best doctors, the best nurses, the best facility and the best equipment that we can possibly have. We all

want our loved ones cared for in a prompt and professional manner. The Campbell River Hospital Foundation has budgeted to spend approximately $350,000 in new medical equipment and health care services this year... something that we are very proud of.

The Campbell River Hospital Foundation strives to improve health care for all residents of our community. Our number one goal has been and will remain to raise funds to support the Campbell River Hospital and Yucalta Lodge. This is critically important for two primary reasons. The fi rst being the ability for our Hospital to have the latest medical equipment so that more services can be provided locally. Providing health care solutions in our own community eliminates the need for people to have to travel to obtain those same services. The second reason is to attract and retain medical professionals to our community. We are competing with the global market for these health care professionals and while we feel that we have the best community, many times it comes down to having the specialty equipment available to offer these physicians.

Retaining medical services locally and attracting medical professionals to our community is not only good for health care, it is good for our local economy. Please be generous to the Campbell River Hospital Foundation. It keeps our community strong and vibrant.

Sincerely,Kent Moeller, Chair
