AI is already here. It’s happening in all industries; its application in the business environment is growing fast. On many estimates, over the next 10 years, enterprise spending on AI technology will increase from $200m to over $50bil-lion.

AI will drive business growth, and rather than detract from human contribution it will release workers to complete more creative and valuable tasks. A number of leading organisations spanning finance, law, healthcare, manufacturing, transport, energy, education and many more are looking to implement the technologies or have already started!

AIBusiness.org was founded in 2014 as the world’s first comprehensive news portal and online community dedicat-ed to the advancement of Artificial Intelligence and its impact on business.

In 2016, we launched the hugely successful AI Summit in London on the 5th of May bringing together 400+ business leaders from all over Europe and attracting huge media interest. Our recent show in San Francisco broke records with 750+ delegates in attendance, while our upcoming event in New York is focusing on CxOs from America’s leading corporates.

Indeed, rather than the usual academic, research and technical audiences that existing AI/EnterpriseIT events gather, we target the Enterprise IT Business leader interested in the practical applications of AI. We also look at all the technologies under the AI ‘umbrella’: Machine Learning, Deep Learning, NLP, Image/Video Recognition, Speech/Voice Recognition, Cognitive Computing.

We bring together some of the world’s foremost innovators in this space: from the giants of Microsoft, IBM Watson, Amazon and Tata through to the most inspiring start-ups. Our audience is a who’s who list of senior decision-mak-ers from across the board: CIOs, CTOs, COOs, Chief Digital Officers, Heads of Innovation, Strategy, Transformation are some of the titles you’ll engage with at The AI Summit!

The programme is curated by leading industry lights, part of our global advisory Board; it differs from academic/re-search conferences on AI, as it focuses on the practical applications of AI for enterprises.

Major CxOs are scheduled to deliver keynotes joined by some of the foremost researchers and solution providers in this space.

Join us in December 2016 and be at the front-end of the AI revolution!

AI is poised to transform business in ways we’ve not seen since the Industrial Revolution. Years ago, GDP growth was a function of workforce efficiency. Today, it’s technology efficiency. Companies are increasingly using artificial intelligence technologies to reimagine business models and processes, transform the relationship between humans and machines, and unlock the trapped value of data—freeing people to do what they do best: be creative, think strategically and develop relationships. But there are limitations to AI. To overcome them, companies must incorporate AI ethics into the decision-making process and maintain strict accountability for what their machines say and do.

Driving Business Value with AI10:30

Michael Redding, Managing Director - Strategic Technology Innovation, Accenture

Trees are well known for their deep roots. The older the tree, the more firmly it is planted into its soil. But what if trees could simply pick up their roots and move from one place to the next? The trees would be at a distinct advantage. So why do corporations that certainly have the opportunity to be agile and mobile, choose instead to stay deeply grounded by their roots and fail to adapt to change, even when faced with less than optimal conditions? What is the answer for these rooted enterprises? It is to exploit their advantages. That sounds obvious of course but the question is how, and the answer to that is simple – data. The wind of change has never blown any faster for the business community, yet the lack of ability of large scale enterprises to adapt and exploit remains their biggest weakness. A weakness which has allowed tech startups to disrupt whole economies. These stories are well understood through the likes of Amazon, Uber and Airbnb, but enterprises continue to look on as if watching a magic trick rather than responding practically. They remain rooted rather than take action, seeing such things as fluke, or anomalies. Yet they are very much not, and success that seems to be conjured out of thin air, is closer to pure science, based on data driven decision making.

If Trees Could Walk11:50

Lawrence Flynn, CEO, Artificial Solutions

There is significant number of AI applications that have been launched and are already being implemented in order to reduce costs, enhance productivity, improve customer satisfaction and increase revenues. The star-studded panel brings together business leaders with AI vendors to discuss the synergy the market is forging, discussing success stories and real-case examples of AI transforming organisations. It will also look at what remains to be done, and what expectations there are of AI technologies from the business community in the future.

Digital partnerships – Accelerating theera of AI

14:55

It’s ironic that the first stumbling block in developing AI applications is humans. The subtle way we understand each other regardless of how we express it, is a pig to recreate artificially—but a fundamental building block of AI.This workshop looks at some of the problems in developing conversational applications including a lack of training data, scarce developer resources and the complexities of multi-lingual applications. It then considers how organizations can overcome these to build conversational understanding into their AI application as in an intelligent way.

333 Ways to tell a joke10:35

Andy Peart, CMO, Artificial Solutions

Two emerging trends in the digital enterprise are the importance of both AI and Design Thinking. AI practices take a data-driven and iterative approach with customers to solve business problems previously thought impossible, but often fails to contextualize that information. On the other hand, Design Thinking provides a structured framework to create solutions that speak directly to the needs of end-users. This talk will explore the power and potential of combining these two approaches in a rapid, iterative manner, to create solutions that not only speak to end-user needs, but are also backed by quantitative insights gathered from Analytics and Machine Learning approaches.

Machine learning with humansin the loop

12:25

Nick Gaylord, Senior Data Scientist, CrowdFlower

Increasingly, businesses are exploring machine learning not only to speed the processing of structured data, but to extract insights from unstructured data like text and images as well. For these efforts to be successful, the role of human intelligence should not be forgotten -- successful applications of machine learning to these tasks are about augmenting humans, not replacing them outright. I discuss two strategies for keeping humans in the loop in your solution: using human judgments to offset your model’s lower-confidence predictions, and using active learning to repurpose those supplementary labels as additional training data so your model improves over time.

Natural Language Generation – NLG – is the subfield of AI that’s concerned with turning data into language. This technology is empowering businesses to automate the analysis and interpretation of their data, and embed their domain expertise into software so that it can write detailed reports in seconds. In this presentation you’ll find out how NLG explains the meaning of data in terms that can be understood by anyone. NLG demystifies data and communicates insights, enabling businesses to act quickly on information that previously took hours or weeks to obtain manually. Applications of NLG are found wherever there’s data that has a story to tell; but it’s proving particularly useful when we’re talking about financial data. We look at three uses cases in the financial services domain where NLG can add value beyond other ways of presenting data. No more puzzling over graphs and charts, wondering ‘But what does it mean?’. Move over, visualization: we’re entering the era of textualization.

As AI has become a hot commodity in the market there have been a lot of disparate, non-standardised approaches that have come to fruition across both industry and function. Today, execution requires heavy lifting and strategic integration. To gain proper traction as a widely adopted technology, it will take some thinking, decision making, consistency and scale to orchestrate and integrate AI into existing systems and processes. A new market, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), is looking to do the same with repeatable, non-judgmental processes. Blue Prism thinks RPA can be the bridge to widespread AI adoption in the same way that it is starting to transform manual processing. Could AI be the brain of the virtual workforce and RPA the execution layer, the arms and legs of the robotic system interaction? Join us as we discuss the potential and impact of RPA on the AI market.

Thanks to recent breakthroughs in deep learning, AI algorithms can now surpass human performance in a range of visual recognition tasks. This begs the questions: where do commercial opportunities lie, and how to exploit them? As an answer to the former, we will outline a framework for identifying commercial applications of AI, and use it to uncover concrete business cases. As an answer to the latter, we will focus on how to manufacture AI systemsefficiently, and present Tractable’s approach for tackling the labeling bottleneck in supervised deep learning. We will demonstrate a 100x labeling cost reduction on the expert task of estimating from images the cost to repair a damaged vehicle – an important application for the insurance industry. We will finish with a demo of our computer vision system for detecting unnecessary repair operations to a damaged vehicle.
